Jᴜsᴛ Wʜᴇɴ Tʜᴇʏ Tʜᴏᴜɢʜᴛ Tʜᴇʏ Kɴᴇᴡ ɪᴛ Aʟʟ...The humans discovered the Eʟғᴇɴɴᴀᴜ. It was an Eʟғᴇɴɴᴀᴜ mourning ritual, Rʜᴀɴɪᴀᴅ Tᴇʀғʏɴᴏʟ (‘final parting’); a ritual which had been performed for many, many years before. And as is their nature, the humans were confused. They could not understand how the Eʟғᴇɴɴᴀᴜ could control their Eʟғᴇɴ.
Tʜᴇ Exᴘᴇʀɪᴍᴇɴᴛs Bᴇɢᴀɴ...The Eʟғᴇɴɴᴀᴜ (or, as the humans called them, ‘elementals’) who were collected, and later killed, became Mᴇʀᴛʜʏʀᴏɴ (‘martyrs’):

A beginner's guide to the language of the Elfennau."A ʀᴇᴀʟ Gᴡʏɴᴀʟʟᴛ."/"Lɪᴋᴇ Aɴᴇɪʀᴀ, ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ғʟᴇsʜ." An expression, talking about an exceptionally attractive person (male and female, respectively). Kind of like saying, "(S)He's such a dreamboat."
ᴀᴇʀ. The element of air.
Aᴇʀᴏɴᴡʏ. The female air Elfennau who was experimented on by the humans.
Aɴᴇɪʀᴀ. The female water Elfennau who was experimented on by the humans.
Bᴇᴅɪᴠᴇʀᴇ. The male earth Elfennau who was experimented on by the humans.
"Bᴇᴅɪᴠᴇʀᴇ ʙʟᴇss ʏᴏᴜ." An expression, more traditional, used as a sort of blessing on someone, similar to "God be with you."

"Bᴇ ʙʀᴀᴠᴇ, ᴍʏ ғғʀɪɴᴅɪᴀᴜ." An expression; Merthyr Carys' last words to the Elfennau; now used as a farewell blessing among the Elfennau, similar to the humans' "Godspeed."
Gᴡʏɴᴀʟʟᴛ. The male air Elfennau who was experimented on by the humans.
"Mᴀʏ Mᴇʀᴛʜʏʀ Dᴇʀᴡᴇɴᴀ ɢᴜɪᴅᴇ ʏᴏᴜ."/"Dᴇʀᴡᴇɴᴀ ɢᴜɪᴅᴇ ʏᴏᴜ." An expression, similar to "good luck," and generally used when talking about things involving great stress or pressure, or a lot of analytical thinking.
Mᴇʀᴛʜʏʀ. Martyr; used as a title for the eight martyrs: Aeronwy, Gwynallt, Aneira, Bran, Derwena, Bedivere, Carys, and Caddock.
Mᴇʀᴛʜʏʀᴏɴ. Martyrs; generally referring to the eight martyrs: Aeronwy, Gwynallt, Aneira, Bran, Derwena, Bedivere, Carys, and Caddock.
Rʜᴀɴɪᴀᴅ Tᴇʀғʏɴᴏʟ. In English, "final parting"; a funeral ceremony which is a celebration of the deceased's life; involves telling stories of the deceased's greatness and talents, and traditional dances; in the end, the newly deceased is laid in a boat (from the ddaear), which the tide (from the dŵr) sweept out to sea, the mast being guided by the wind (from the aer), and, finally, once almost gone from sight, set aflame (from the tân). The Elfennau were discovered at a Rhaniad Terfynol ceremony, and in order to blend in with modern society, they scarcely perform the Rhaniad Terfynol anymore, except for in extremely remote places.
"(S)ʜᴇ's ᴊᴜsᴛ ᴀ Bʀᴀɴ."/"Wʜᴀᴛ ᴀ Bʀᴀɴ." An expression, used to talk about someone "uncool" or "ugly," similar to "he's such a dweeb" or "what a geek."

When the Elfennau were discovered by humankind, tests were performed upon them. Many of the Elfennau escaped; however, for some of them, it was too late to save them.
Four elements.
Eight dead.
Aeronwy: One of the most important aer in Elfennau history, she was known for her generosity and charity toward others. She was greatly mourned after her death, as she was loved by all of the Elfennau when she lived. Aeronwy chose to never marry; the world, she said, was her family. Merthyr Aeronwy was a pacifist, choosing to avoid violence at all costs.
Gwynallt: The other aer merthyr, he was known for being a great peacemaker among the Elfennau. It is said that whenever there was a disagreement, Gwynallt could have found a compromise. Gwynallt, like Merthyr Aeronwy, swore to never marry. He did, however, have many female admirers. Some say that his smile alone could have ended wars.
Aneira: The female dŵr merthyr, Aneira was said to be one of the most beautiful women alive during her time. She too did not marry; however, she did have a lover: the merthyr Derwena. The two are said to have been very much in love, and Aneira was greatly respected among the dŵr community, as well as the Eflennau community. She was the sister of merthyr Bran.
Bran: The older brother of merthyr Aneira, he did not share the family beauty; he had been born disfigured. Before his death, merthyr Bran had been shunned by the community for his monstrous appearance. From diary entries and old letters, it seems that the only people in the Elfennau community who showed him kindness were the merthyr Bedivere and his wife, Rhiannon.
Derwena: The merthyr Derwena was known for being of great intelligence; she was a strategist, always thinking logically and clearly. She was the lover of merthyr Aneira, and the two lived together happily for many years until the humans found the Elfennau. Before meeting Aneira, she was said to have been a harsh woman, but her love brought out the best.
Bedivere: The merthyr Bedivere was known best for his kind heart, and his connection with nature. He cared deeply for all living creatures, and he was happily married to his childhood friend, Rhiannon. The couple were the only friends of merthyr Bran; none of the others could see past his admittedly frightening appearance. Of the merthyron, he is one of the most honored, and many Elfennau aspire to be like the kind Bedivere of noble heart.
Carys: Merthyr Carys is said by many to be a "guardian angel" of sorts to the Elfennau; she is known for her passion, her spirit, always defending the Elfennau. She was the last of the merthyron to die; she would not give in to the humans and their tests. Her last words to the Elfennau people had been "Be brave, my ffrindiau," now used as a sort of farewell blessing among the Elfennau.
Caddock: The merthyr Caddock is said to have isolated himself from society for most of his life; he was the oldest of the merthyron. It is said that the night after his marriage to his sweetheart, he woke up to find her dead, burned. He is the least respected among the Elfennau community, who saw him as a monster even more so than the disfigured Bran, and it is because of Caddock that many see the elfen tân as a curse instead of a blessing.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ELFENNAU TRAITS
For all four of the elfen, emotions play a great role. Although it is very rare for an Elfennau to be completely out of control of their elfen (it is most common in mentally unstable Elfennau), there might be minor effects (i.e. a tân Elfennau might grow warmer when angry). With enough practice, it's easy to get that under control, and generally by the time an Elfennau is an older teenager or young adult, they have it completely under control (with the exception of particularly dire situations).
Elfennau traits are dominant. When there are two different Elfennau parents, there is a 50/50 chance of either, but there may only be one elfen per Elfennau. If an Elfennau has one human parent, then their powers may be weaker (i.e. dŵr Elfennau can generally control the temperature of water; a half-dŵr, half-human Elfennau might only have control over water in its liquid form).
There is no way for two human parents to have an Elfennau child, unless there was a sperm/egg donor (i.e. with same-sex couples) or if the child was adopted.
There are very few half-blood Elfennau, as it is incredibly dangerous for an Elfennau to reveal their identity to someone, even a romantic partner. To tell the secret is to trust someone entirely with your life, and even then, it is only the reckless who would tell. Most Elfennau come from pure-blooded families.

The New Age is a dark one, in many senses of the word. The world is dull. Colorless. Lifeless, some might say, even. It's tragic. It's not a life that many want to live. It's dangerous. It's cold. It's loveless. It's unfeeling.Iᴛ's ʏᴏᴜʀ ʀᴇᴀʟɪᴛʏ.
The Spectra first appeared in the second century of the New Age. A genetic mutation. Humans, but... not. Superhumans. People who could control things that other people could not. Terrifying. Dangerously beautiful. More and more Spectra began to appear -- each more dangerous than the last. The common thread? Their eyes. They were colors, unlike the brown and gray of normal humans'. No, they were the colors of the old rainbow.
There was, at some point, a leader. Scarlet Maddisen. A woman with eyes red as blood and hair like fire. She was a charming leader, a persuasive one. And there's one thing which always needs a strong leader...A ʀᴇᴠᴏʟᴜᴛɪᴏɴ.
People want change. People want power. People want a world like what it used to be, and Scarlet Maddisen is going to lead them to victory. The only problem? No one has actually seen her. People have only heard of her. After all, leading a revolution is hard work. People have to be pretty desperate. And that's why there's the Resistance, a ragtag band of Spectra who want a change. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬Rules-- You may not have more than one Spectra of the same color.
- Don't make your Spectra all-powerful.
- It's five, of either gender, to one housing assignment unless they are in a position of command.
- Anyone who wants to participate can.
Types of Spectra-Rᴇᴅ: The abilities of Red Spectra are less visible than those of the other Spectra. Why? Because most of it has to do with mind manipulation. Red Spectra's powers lie in their charisma and seduction. They often make good leaders and good spies. And they always get their way. Always. The consistency of their powers relies on their confidence in themselves (which often is influenced by the amount of faith others have in them) and for a Red Spectra to expect failure is to surrender themselves to a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Oʀᴀɴɢᴇ: The Orange Spectra have one of the most difficult abilities to control. What do they have control over? Fire. They can manipulate it as they wish. However, this is incredibly hard to control if not in a completely calm state of mind. If they have nothing to fuel their energy, their powers are weak. If they are raging or hurt, their powers may flare. Often times, Orange Spectra will be sent on direct missions and invasionsor suicide missions.
Yᴇʟʟᴏᴡ: Yellow Spectra control the weather. They can make it storm, they can make it scorching hot. However, much like the Orange Spectra, the power of the Yellow Spectra relies on their state of mind. They are incredibly handy to have in the case of air invasions, and are often pilots within the Resistance.
Gʀᴇᴇɴ: Green Spectra understand nature. They have a keen sense for detecting poisons of any type, and are often healers for their knowledge of the world around them. They can whip up virtually any medicine needed. If they know a natural landmark (i.e. big tree, mountain, river), then their powers allow them to navigate in that proper direction. Some of the more powerful Green Spectra even have the ability to manipulate plants to their will, but those are very rare.
Bʟᴜᴇ: Blue Spectra control water. This is good for submarine and boat travel. Like the Green Spectra, Blue Spectra have a keen sense of direction and can always find the way to water. For this reason, and the fact that they can control water, Blue Spectra often take on the position of navigators within the Resistance.
Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛ: Violet Spectra have what is possibly the most dangerous ability of all. They can mess with the mind. They're illusionists, able to create images out of nothing. The most powerful Violet Spectra can even create illusion "masks" to conceal their true identity. Some of the more powerful ones can project noise, too. However, Violet Spectra are the most rare Spectra at all. For this reason, most undergo intensive training and rarely go out on missions for fear of being taken out.
Other Information About Spectra:- The more powerful, the more features are that color. For example, the most powerful Green Spectra might have green hair, and a powerful Red Spectra's skin might have a reddish tinge.
- The Spectra trait is dominant. Meaning that for siblings, if one's a Spectra, all are Spectra.
- Spectra is both the singular and plural form of the word.
Types of Humans-Lᴏʏᴀʟɪsᴛs: Loyalists are, as implied, loyal to the New Age government. And since they're in the Resistance? They're spies. Because really... do you think the government doesn't know about the Resistance? Yeah, exactly. These people are loyal to their cause. And pretending to be Specters.
Sᴘᴇᴄᴛᴇʀs: Specters are allied with the Spectra. Although they have no powers, they're not shunned from society and so know more about the New Age government. Generally helpful for their minds more than their physical abilities.
