Can’t express how much I love this book coming from reading the previous tometime read (aka. the worst written book ever), as I am so invested in the characters, and I’m loving all the trails through Stevenage, and Barnet, and Potters Bar. The giant mushroom people was a nice touch...Mike Carey must have gone out on the slash in Hertfordshire before marathoning nature docs all Sunday to get that idea in his head.

It's good fun. The worst slog of a book I've read this year has been 'Already Dead' - which was beautifully written on a sentence-by-sentence level, but was totally devoid of anything resembling a plot or half-way interesting characters who did anything more than mumble their way through the book in a druggy haze...

That's the main use of a bleh book, making everything else even better in comparison!
