Jackaby Series by William Ritter
Just got an email that my book came in! Perfect timing too! Now as long as they're open til 6, I'll have it today :)
I am going to do "Whispersync" on this book. I have never tried it but it seems to be working out great so far. I started the book late last night and switched over to the audio at my desk. Jackaby is going to be an interesting character.
It's where you can bounce between Kindle and Audible. So I can read then switch to listening when I am in the car. It is cool it saves place and everything.
Oh that's awesome!
By the way, I'm a couple chapters in the book and I really like it so far!
I instantly liked both main characters.

I really wasn't sure if I was going to like this or not but I'm almost halfway and really liking it!
Me too! I'm a little over halfway now and I'm really enjoying it. I really like every character.
I see what they mean by Sherlock Holmes meets Dr. Who. Especially with Douglas. haha.

I am having a hard time getting into this book. I am only 26% in and it seems so slow to me. Does it pick up?
Ok then I will power through. I am still sitting at 26% because I am a little bored. I will pick it back up. I am only to the part where she is asking about the other occupants of the building.

Beastly Bones
September 2015 release.. so far away!
Well it sounds like you all like it! That gives me hope that it will get better. I will pick it back up today. I have 8 days to finish it and keep on track.
That's so exciting! I was hoping there would be a second one :) I guess we know what we'll be reading in September haha.
You still have time Brandy! I hope it starts to pick up for you!
I thought Jackaby was hilarious too Brie. Who am I kidding, I loved all the characters.

I've updated this topic to the series reads section. :) Please see update on the first thread above.
91% I will finally finish today! So I have been doing some thinking on this book. I like it but I just never got into it. But have you ever read a book and you just don't jive but then later be it weeks, months or year you pick it up and can't put it down? I think this might be that book for me. This happened to me once before, with the series of Ender's shadow. first book no problem but I struggled with the next couple of books. Well a few years later I decided to give it a try again I whipped through the series in no time and loved every minute of it.
So I am hoping that by the time the 2nd book comes out I will be in a different state of mind.
Update I am done!!!
A new Jackaby novella has been released and it's free!http://algonquinyoungreaders.com/book...

Also, there's a giveaway for the upcoming book - Beastly Bones

lets do it closer to the release of Beastly Bones. That would be my vote. We have so many books going right now.

Jackaby 1.5 Novella
Abigail hopes that her birthday will slip by unnoticed and uncelebrated, but her employer, detective of the supernatural R. F. Jackaby, has other plans. Using magical party crackers that teleport the pair to unknown destinations in time and space and a cryptic map that may lead to a forgotten treasure, Jackaby intends to give Abigail what he considers to be the best gift of all--adventure.
Abigail and Jackaby must tame an enormous (and carnivorous) rabbit, defend a castle, and master a dirigible if they want to find the treasure and get back to New Fiddleham alive.
Start Date: September 15, 2015
I have to finish one more book before I can start this one. I just have too many started right now.
Ack. I better get started! I had a small snafu with my tablet. I couldn't get it to stop rebooting on a loop. I just fixed it today by doing a factory reset so I gotta re fix all my apps and such on it so I'll get started as soon as I can.
Just finished. Abigail was bothering me in the beginning..I just wanted to shout "just go have fun!" But by the end she was good.

“Miss Rook, I am not an occultist,” Jackaby said. “I have a gift that allows me to see truth where others see the illusion--and there are many illusions. All the world’s a stage, as they say, and I seem to have the only seat in the house with a view behind the curtain.”
Newly arrived in New Fiddleham, New England, 1892, and in need of a job, Abigail Rook meets R. F. Jackaby, an investigator of the unexplained with a keen eye for the extraordinary--including the ability to see supernatural beings. Abigail has a gift for noticing ordinary but important details, which makes her perfect for the position of Jackaby’s assistant. On her first day, Abigail finds herself in the midst of a thrilling case: A serial killer is on the loose. The police are convinced it’s an ordinary villain, but Jackaby is certain it’s a nonhuman creature, whose existence the police--with the exception of a handsome young detective named Charlie Cane--deny.
Doctor Who meets Sherlock in William Ritter’s debut novel, which features a detective of the paranormal as seen through the eyes of his adventurous and intelligent assistant in a tale brimming with cheeky humor and a dose of the macabre.
