Gregor the Overlander discussion

What would you say are your favorite scene(s) in the first book of the Overlander series? (BTW, I haven’t read the rest of the series yet.)
Hands down, mine would be the powerful scene in which Gregor comes to the rescue of the bat Ares, after everyone was deciding to banish him because of Ares’ master’s treachery. Oh, can a heart not be moved in that scene, when he proclaims before all:
"Ares the flier, I bond to you.
Our life and death are one, we two.
In dark, in flame, in war, in strife,
I save you as I save my life."
