I am going to spend August reading 1Q84. Anyone else in the process of reading it and/or want to discuss the book along the way?

Hey Andrew! Its been on my to-read shelf for a while and this would be an excellent reason for me to pick it up. Start on August 1st?
This is The Book that made of me a Murakami fan. I am now about 10 books latter and will be taking up Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage.I hope ya don't mind if I drop in now and again to read and maybe comment.
Sounds great Garin. Looking forward to discussing it with you.The more the merrier Phrodick...feel free to jump in any time.
I have read about 6 Murakami books and am tackling the bigger ones this year. I read Windup Bird Chronicle last spring now it's time for the magnum opus.
Always wondering why ppl would want to read 1Q84 as their first book. It’s so much more fun after havjng read his previous books too :)Enjoy the ride people :)
I’d like to see your perspective.
Sweet! This will be my 4th of his books and after reading The Tunnel by William Gass this year everything else will be a breeze.

Saska,
I started with IQ because that was where I started. Otherwise, not only do I agree with you, but I have tried to read his books in order.
Oh well.. go with the flow and such.. Just seems a tough book for a first book.
And there are so much references to other books.
Not necessarily for understanding the book... but it is added fun :)

I'd like to join if that's still possible! I have never read a book together with anyone else, nor had any book discussions. But I'd like to give it a go, especially as I really like Murakami :)
Ah great! Exciting~ when is everyone planning to start? I reserved it at my local library but no idea when it's available. I can also lookbfor the ebook, but I'd much rather have the real thing :)
I had assumed August 1st but I was also going to ask if we were gonna set any sort of structure or just read at our own pace? I’m open to whichever
I am starting on Aug 1st. I was not planning on any structure/schedule but how about if I create 3 separate messages under 1Q84 on here for books 1, 2 and 3 so we can coordinate discussing those sections as we finish them?
