Hi Ladies, Would anyone be interested in sharing a group read for August? We have had a couple small but really great group reads this year. COVID has made it harder for some to get books or to conscentrate, so I am open to an older book if it is easier to access or a lighter book if it is easier to focus on, or just about anything. Let me know if anyone wants to share a book discussion. Then suggest a book.

Irene I enjoyed the last discussion I will join again. I hope we get more people. But i am in either way.
I would be interested. I enjoyed the June discussion and sorry to miss July.Maybe something by Maggie O'Farrell, Iris Murdoch or Andrea Levy. I have only read 2 Murdoch novels and nothing by the other two authors. I really don't care as I enjoy everything.

Ooops, wasn't a June read I participated in, it was whenever we discussed Miracle Creek. Time flies.
I may go back and read m Miracle Creek. It sounds good. I Wouldn't mind any of he authors you suggested. I would also like to suggest tThe Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
Let's get a list of a couple of titles. Then we can open it to a group vote. If we each nominate one title, we may have to do a rank voting since each of us will vote for our nomination.
Irene, that’s perfect. I would love to read that book. Just to add to the fun, I will nominate a book of short stories “A Manual for Cleaning Women” by Lucia Berlin.
Well, we have 3 nominations. If there is anyone else out there that would like to add a nomination, we can take it. Otherwise, let's name our 1st and 2nd choice. I will give 2 points for the first place choice and 1 point for the second place choice. Hopefully, that will surface a winner even if we vote for our own nomination.“A Manual for Cleaning Women” by
Lucia Berlin
"The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo"
"Lamb In His Bosom" by Caroline Miller
Renee, I already read Evelyn Hugo, but I would be glad to join in a discussion if it wins the nomination.Melody, I have heard great things about that short story collection.
Let's give another 24 hours to see if anyone else in this group wants to chime in and join us. Right now, "A Manual for Cleaning Women is in the lead.
Sounds like a good idea, Renee. No one else from the group has joined this thread, so I think we can go ahead with " A Manual for Cleaning Women" for our August read. Looking forward to it.
I was just checking my library. It does not have Manuel for cleaning women or Lamb in his Bosom. The covid rules does not allow them to get books from other libraries. Could we all nominate again. I think keeping to newer books and more popular titles would make it easier untille libraries are back at full service.I am making a secons nomination ofThe Dutch House
I would be good with The Dutch House. I have two other GR groups reading it this month, but neither of them discuss as they go along. So, it would allow me to double dip and to read it more closely with a group.
I have never participated in a reading group before but would love to join if that’s ok. I will get the book.
We would love to have you join us, Vivienne.Today or tomorrow, I hope to start a thread for the discussion of this book so that the discussion is out of the nomination folder.
Hi ladies, I wasn't paying attention earlier, but I just saw you want to read The Dutch House. It's one I've wanted to read. I put a hold on it at my library, but I probably won't get it in August, there's 17 holds ahead of me. But there are 7 copies, so maybe I'll luck out. If I get it, I'll join in, if not, I'll comment later! Enjoy!
