Loved him! He was a great Alpha - he is a born leader without being a jerk about it. He reminds me of Adam from the other series.
He was a bit scary at first but I guess he was supposed to be given he's the enforcer. It was helpful getting his POV to better understand what was going on with him. But once I started to "get" him, I fell for him in a BIG way. He is SO cool in a badass kind of way. And he honed in on Anna fast and hard. Loved how he handled her.
I loved Charles and the way he came across in this book. I read the Mercy Thompson series first so had a very strong impression of Charles as a scary, taciturn, stoic man with a strong Native American presence. In Alpha & Omega he became more 'humanized'. I really got a kick out of how 'Brother Wolf' took charge of picking their mate and pushed Charles to the back seat.
I didn't really like Holter Graham's voice selection for Charles in the audiobook, it didn't sound Alpha enough, but I got used to it.
For some reason, Holter's voice worked for me, maybe because I got the spiritual, menace and intelligence all wrapped in the voice. Hooked me immediately.
Maybe because I don't have any strong memories of him from Mercy Thompson.

Laura, that's how Charles came across in the Mercy books to me too. So I loved being able to go deeper with his character in this novella.
And Kris, yes! A non-jerk Alpha. I love those kind. He reminded me of Adam also. Fair and firm.
I also didn't mind Graham's voice selection for Charles ( I got the same thing from him, Jonetta (spiritual, menace, and intelligence)), but I do struggle a bit with men doing women's voices, lol.

I came to like the narrators version of Charles but it wasn't easy. One narrator who does women's voices pretty well is Robert Petkoff. He narrates the IAD series and does a good job.
Petkoff does everything wonderfully. He's amazing. I listened to him in Those Who Wish Me Dead and switched to the audio format for LAD because of that performance.
Love, love, love Charles. I actually prefer him to Adam *ducking the tomatoes*Charles is the typical strong, silent, dangerous type. Everyone is terrified of him but he is so gentle with Anna. I love how protective he is of her and he knows just when to push and when to step back.
Jonetta wrote: "No tomatoes from me as I think I'm falling in the same camp."Its the whole dark, tormented thing he has going on :0)
No tomatoes here either...I am always willing to have more than one boyfriend ;) This was only a novella and I clicked with Charles so cant wait for more!
Lol Kris...I was thinking the same thing. Love Adam and Charles....and warren...and Ben....and Asil....this would be a fun topic for discussion once everyone has read more in both series!

I agree!
Although, when it comes to choosing between Adam and Charles, I'd still pick Adam. But Charles is quickly winning me over.

Lol, Laura...more the merrier when it comes to fictional boyfriends.
I think I will wait a few books and give Charles a chance but so far agree with you Monica. I wonder if that is also because we've had more books with Adam.
