This thread is for BookDuck (Maddie) and Lisa to discuss Illumine together the first week of August! Happy reading! :)

message 2: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Can I jump in with you guys too?

message 3: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) sure @Brinley!

message 4: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Thanks! Where you guys planning to start on a specific date or just in that week?

message 5: by Brinley (new)

Brinley I'm free whenever, so whatever works for you guys

message 6: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Sure!

message 7: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) sure August 1st works for me

message 8: by Brinley (new)

Brinley There's a book under each title, in not sure which one you guys were planning to do. I'm fine with either, but I had originally read it as Illuminae too

message 9: by Brinley (new)

Brinley BookDuck | Maddie wrote: "The 1st book in the illuminae files series"

And that's what Lisa thinks too? I can get Illuminae by the start date

message 10: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) yeah we are reading the illuminae files book 1

message 11: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Oh, ok, great! That's been on my tbr for like two years now

message 12: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) same here lol

message 13: by Brinley (new)

Brinley My reading speed is pretty fast, so I can do whatever you guys decide. I have an eBook copy, so I can't really tell how long chapters are either

message 14: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Sure!

message 15: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Im still at like 15%. (my kindle doesn't support pages for this book for some odd reason) I like it so far, especially Esra. Kady is just ok, but I'm expecting to like her better as I read on. it's kind of wierd to read a book told only through documents, and I'm not too sure how I like it so far. (view spoiler)

message 16: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Yah, it's definitely not my favorite way to tell a story, but it does add a lot of tension. Is two hundred pages pretty close to 33%? That's what I was planning to read to

message 17: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Ok, so I just got to 33%
(view spoiler)

message 18: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) I am 10% into this book.
The audiobook of this book is amazing but I didn't get it so I'm reading it physically too.
I'm liking it alright right now but let's see if it gets better!

message 19: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Up to 44%
(view spoiler)

message 20: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Yah, its super freaky. (view spoiler)

message 21: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Ok, so I just got up to 68%, a little more than 2/3
(view spoiler)

message 22: by Brinley (new)

Brinley BookDuck | Maddie wrote: "Yes I totally agree! I also just finished the book. I could not put this book down!"

I'll probably finish tomorrow, I'm in the midst of like three buddy reads right now, bad planning on my part. Would you want to buddy read the rest of the series too?

message 23: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Oh, that's too bad, no libraries nearby?

message 24: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) I'm reading it real slow

message 25: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) I've read 15% only

message 26: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) I think I'm a little tired after reading too many books last month and now I'm just reading slow
I can't even join u guys to discuss the book
but I'll try to finish ASAP

message 27: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Don't worry about it, just discuss when you feel like it, we don't care

message 28: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Ok, I'm at 89%, and all I want to say is (view spoiler)

message 29: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Ok, I just finished.

Brinley BookDuck | Maddie wrote: "[spoilers removed]"

Thats weird, but I guess it could be interesting,

message 33: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) okay I'm 58% into this book and what Aidan just did makes no sense. I hope it's actions are explained later in this book and I'm so worried about Ezra. I also want Byron to live but don't know what's gonna happen. there's just so much death in this book that I was totally not expecting. and right now my thoughts are all over the place and I can't even write cohesively.

message 34: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) And ohhhh the audiobook! Did any of you listen to this book?
It's makes reading this book a whole different experience. You guys should check out the audiobooks for the next two books when you read it.

message 35: by Brinley (new)

Brinley I've never actually used an audiobook, but I'll look into it. thanks for the reccomendation!

Yah, this book was definitely full of death. It was so tense all the way through, gathering your thoughts was definitely difficult

message 36: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) I finished this book!!!!! And omg this was mind blowing!
AIDAN! God I want more of AIDAN in the next books! Such a fascinating character to read about!

message 37: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) okay I can talk on and on about AIDAN so I'll stop. The rest of the book was awesome. the emotional rollercoaster was unexpected but totally welcome!

message 38: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) I can't wait to read the next book!
Even though it's about a different couple.
But Kady and Ezra comes back in the third book again as far as I know!
I'm just along for this intergalactic ride as long as AIDAN is there! :p

☀︎El In Oz☀︎ (elinoz) Lol I know I’m not part of this buddy read but let me say u guys have the most interesting comments lol😂
And I’m glad y’all loved it! Oh and Ezra and Kady are still in book 2, just more minor roles

message 40: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Lisa, I can go on and on about AIDAN too. He totally was my favorite character. I was quite surprised when I found myself getting emotional over a psychotic AI's death

message 41: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) Exactly!!! But AIDAN didn't die and I'm happy for that. He was a very unique character and I'm excited to see more of him in the next books!
I'm trying to decide when to read the next books lol!

message 42: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Let me know if you want to buddy read those, I'm totally down for it

message 43: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) Yup I'm down too.
when do you want to read Gemina??

message 44: by Brinley (new)

Brinley I just got the next book, so I'm ready when you are!

message 45: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) Let's read it on September?
when do you want to start?

message 46: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Near the beginning of the month would be better for me

message 47: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) okay sure
let's start on the first week then?

message 48: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Ok, so should we say the third?

message 49: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lizaland) okay the third sounds fine!

message 50: by Brinley (new)

Brinley Great!
