Babe: The Gallant Pig by Dick King-Smith has to be one of my favorite reads of the year. I saw the movie when it was first released but never thought to read the book until I randomly saw it on display at the library. This book is quite charming and is gentler than the movie. Babe is about an orphaned pig who wishes to become a sheepdog and with a lot of support and intelligence succeeds. The book provides many lessons for its readers, including not judging by appearance and treating others kindly. It’s a quick read and I would recommend it for any age.
