Post the title, description, and your opinion of the book you read.

Katherine | 52 comments I have the same issue so I am just altering it to be "a book that takes place in your homestate".

Hahaha Becky we have THE same issue. Maine is so small town! I may read something by Stephen King that is obscure enough to fit anywhere in SmallTown, Maine ^_^

I like "a book that takes place in your homestate", because unless you're from LA, or NYC, or Chicago(hehehe, which I know someone in this group who is) its challenging.

Also high-five Jay & Livermore Maine!

Ben | 12 comments Something Upstairs by Avi. A boy and his family move into an old house in Providence, Rhode Island. The boy finds out the house is haunted by a ghost. The ghost wants the boy to find out who killed him.

Surprisingly, I have no recollection of reading this superb, brisk, and thrilling book. It's for the elementary/middle-school age, but, when I thought of my homestate (RI), I wanted a mystery. And, I got one! If you like fast and engaging mysteries with some historical aspects thrown in, then I recommend this book.

For this one I cheated a bit, while it doesn't take place in my hometown, a piece of the story happens on Long Island, so that was good enough for me. I really wanted to read this book and this was the only category left I could think to put it in.

Prior to reading this, I was amazed by how many kids came in looking for this book/the others in the series. After reading it, I can totally see why. This book is adventurous, fast paced, action packed and throws in some nice greek mythology. I wanted to read it more so that I could recommend other books for kids who had finished the series, and I have now found myself in their shoes wanting the read the entire thing.

Katherine | 52 comments I read The Mockingbirds by Daisy Whitney which takes place in Rhode Island at a school that is similar to Brown.
