that was. so. depressing.
Ama! Ama babe! come on girl! you need Sorrow to protect you, and respect and fear do NOT go hand in hand! whyyyy!
she finally found her passion only to have it torn away :((
and Emory.... he's going from bad to worse ahhhh.
basically this was not a happy set! or a happy book overall!

Yeah, it's just so oppressive that makes me truly ill! Everytime Ama has any shred of happiness it's taken away from her!

No. No, Ama. This is not worth your will, your pride, your self-respect, your happiness...
It's heartbreaking to see Sorrow's nature being taken from her.
“Women’s art is soft,”
Ugh. The Glassblower is maybe the least horrible man in this book, and that's saying something.
“Oh, lady,” Tillie said, “a man does not like his woman to be scarred.”
Most of Ama's scars are invisible.
The book is almost ending, but Ama's suffering is still constant and worsening. Why it's only in Emory's kingdom that a King goes rescue a damsel to have a boy with her? It's very weird for all of them to have only one baby boy. I wonder why?
The accident just finished proving that Ama is the dragon. Now, how did she became a girl?
Part 6
Sorrow’s Lesson
- [ ] AMA DONT LET HIM USE YOU LIKE THAT! ITS NOT WORTH IT NOT EVEN FOR SORROW!
- [ ] That is so sad, I hope Sorrow is clever and knows when she can protect Ama when she desperately needs it
The Queen Mother’s Heart
- [ ] “That is the way it has always been”
- [ ] How can generations upon generations let something like this keep going on and on without question? It is so strange, it’s like everyone is brainwashed at this stage
- [ ] Hmmm Ama should investigate further this coldness and see that shadow
Ama’s Choice
- [ ] Man why didn’t she throw the eye away
- [ ] Hmmm the dragon’s eye, she must have had a good relationship with the dragon to remember his eyes well
- [ ] Wait?! Are the eyes the dragon’s eyes!
The Glassblower’s Staff
- [ ] Hmm interesting, she is so cold now, maybe she is not used to the snow
- [ ] And I bet the fire from the glassblower reminded her of the dragon’s extreme heat. Which is probably why the queen always has the chambers warm
Ama’s Accident
- [ ] Oh Ama, no one will like it now that she got hurt, the glassblower might get into trouble
The King’s Guests
- [ ] Oh no, Emory is definitely not happy
- [ ] I hope he does hurt the glassblower
Ama’s Lesson
- [ ] Awwww poor Sorrow! Poor Ama!

I know! I was so heartbroken and angry to see Ama and Sorrow being separated in such a way! And then her using the whip on her! Argh I cried for Sorrow and Ama! I am furious that Emory has forced them to break their bond in such a describable way!
It’s not a happy book at all! Not what I was expecting at all

I agree! It’s definitely not worth her happiness or sacrifice, or her body, not worth it AT ALL!
Yeah the men are despicable in this book, who knows if the glassblower will end up like an idiot at well or not
I agree, she is scarred for life both inside and out and it’s horrible to see her so broken down

Yeah if is weird that coincidentally they all have one boy? Like what happens if it’s a girl? Or if they can’t bear children? What then?
WAIT WHAT? Is she the dragon? Oh man I got to re read the accident scene again, I didn’t even think of that. I was thinking more that the dragon and Ama were companions, but then all those dreams and visions she is having all make sense if she is the dragon! 😱🤯

I mean, that's what I think?? I got that impression earlier in the book, a lot of things were off: she couldn't remember anything, was stark naked, we never see where she actually came from, she just woke up in his horse, she had a lot of weird dreams about balls of fire as if it were one with her...
Then my suspicions only got bigger because of all the talk about how she has no family and now that is getting colder she's craving the heat to warm her. After that incidente with the glass and the way, she didn't feel pain in the fire only made that hypothesis a winner to me. She's either the dragon or is extremely connected with it.

Hmm that is very true, I just re read the accident scene and I strongly agree with you that the dragon was Ama. Especially when she is looking at her hand full of glass pieces in them and she begins to flex it, it says “The glass moved like scales” and then later on it describes it again like fish scales.
You’ve got good eyes for catching these things earlier. I honestly thought that the dragon and her were close companions probably like family and Emory injected her with some kind of drug which made her forget.
We shall see! Almost finished now!

wow Laysa really be so much smarter than me XD i read those eye and scale scenes and thought nothing of them XD you think i'd read enough to pick up on these things ahahah
anyway i agree with all of your thoughts!! this book was also not what i expected, Karen hon, but thanks for reading it with me! it probably would've sat on my shelf for forever if you didn't buddy read it with me ahah xx. and thanks for joining us, Laysa!

Hahahaha, it's just that I have a friend who is super sharp regarding those things, because of her I started to pay more attention to the small details. The book does not have much action, so it's a bit easier to notice the particulars.
Thank you guys so much for inviting me to these again. I can't say that I'm greatly enjoying it because I don't tend to particularly like books with that much suffering. But if I was reading it alone I would have a harder time finishing it. ☺️
Also just if you're wondering (cause my name it's strange) my name is pronounced like Liza (lie-za).
ahah well it's cool you've learnt to notice those things!
thank you for joining us! that's such a cool name :))
