Claire Cosi arrives one morning at her coffeehouse to find her assistant, Annabelle, unconscious at the bottom of the basement stairs. Was it an accident or attempted murder?
Overall this was okay. It's your typical cozy mystery with the amateur sleuth to investigates because the police don't think it's murder. The mystery was a good one and the writing was not bad, but there were also a lot of irritating things about it. Way too much information about coffee, so much I wonder if there is anything left over to put in the other books in the series. Way too trying hard, especially in the description department, so that it sometimes borders on corny. However, knowing that lots of series have a rocky start, this had enough good things going for it that I'm willing to give the next book a try to see if it improves.
