Be reaped here!

Lizzie Stone Jayden was fitting in her last bit of training before the reaping ceremony. She needed to be ready for the arena. Hopefully, her brother wasn't chosen quite yet. He was still training to become a Career and he wasn't ready to volunteer quite yet.

Lizzie Stone Ray was sitting at home worrying about the reaping and how he still needs training. Plus, Jayden would be volunteering this year so he definitely didn't want to be chosen. He would never want to kill his sister, he looked up to her for guidance.

In the City Square, kids of age file into their appropriate age group and sign in. Before leaving off to her section she looks Ray in the eye. "I'll be fine. I'll win this thing and be home and in another two years you'll be in it and you'll win." Jayden told him.

"I know," Ray sighed, "Hopefully I'm not chosen yet. I still have so much training to do." She nodded grimly and headed to her appropriate area as Ray headed off to his. A woman in a bright yellow outfit and with her face painted yellow to resemble a sun took the stage. The outfits of the Capitol are super ridiculous.

"Welcome to the 1st annual Hunger Games and may the odds be ever in your favor!" the woman chimed in the capitol accent. "Ladies first!" She dug around and grabbed a slip. She called out the name but Jayden didn't listen to the name. "Do we have any volunteers?" the lady asked.

"I volunteer as tribute," Jayden raised her hand and fought her way to the front of the crowd. "I volunteer as tribute," she said again.

"Come up here. What's your name dear?" the lady said as Jayden walked up the steps.

"It's Jayden, Jayden Mace." Jayden told her.

"Here we have our girl tribute, now for the boys," she sticks her hand in the boy's ball and pulls out a name. "Ray Mace." 'No! Not Ray!' Jayden thought. 'No! I don't want to kill my sister!' Ray thought. "Please take your place," the sun lady told him and he walked to the stage. "Do we have any volunteers?" she asked. The crowd is silent since Ray is training to be a Career anyway, no one volunteers. "There we have it, Jayden and Ray Mace are our tributes for District 2!"

Ray and Jayden hugged. "I don't want to have to kill you," Ray mumbled into her shirt. "You won't have to, I'll promise you that. There are 22 other Tributes going. Just make it out of there." Jayden told him. "Okay, I will try to," Ray told her and they broke apart.

'No matter what Ray makes it out of there alive,' Jayden vowed to herself, 'I'll protect him.'
'I'll protect my sister, I don't want her to die,' Ray thought to himself and they were both shoved into a car and were driven away. They both knew that their family would never be complete again, one of them would die.
