Autoboyography discussion

Did anyone else find the perspective switch really disorienting? I feel like maybe this book should have been alternating perspectives or something because only having Tanner's perspective didn't even come close to doing Sebastian justice. But having a chapter that is randomly from third person limited and focused on somebody besides the main character was just confusing to me.
