Steph (stephsaporito) | 9 comments Does anybody know of any good memoirs? I've never really been into reading them so nothing really jumps out. I'll take any suggestions

Amanda | 2 comments I think I'm going to read "Ava Gardner: The Secret Conversations" which I got last Christmas but still haven't read. I'm also interested in Tina Fey, Amy Pohler, and Mindy Kaling's books too!

If you're going to read a comedian (or comedienne)'s memoir I highly recommend listening to the audiobook.

One of my favorite booktubers did a great video on Memoir: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRBwm...

If you want to read your 500+ page book and memoir in one shot I just finished Robert Gates' Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War and found it really great. I've also personally enjoyed Girl Meets God, The Know-It-All: One Man's Humble Quest to Become the Smartest Person in the World, and Never Have I Ever: my life (so far) without a date although YMMV with those.

Many people love Just Kids by Patti Smith although I struggled to get into it last year.

I think I'm going to read "An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth: What Going to Space Taught Me About Ingenuity, Determination, and Being Prepared for Anything" by Chris Hadfield. It will double as my book that is set somewhere I've always wanted to visit, because it is about living in space. Oh, I'm a nerd.

Nicole (aggie44) | 79 comments Oh, that would be a memoir, wouldn't it? It's in my to-read pile. :)

Hey Steph, I liked both Bossypants and Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? but I liked Bossypants a bit more. I read both on my kindle but I've heard the audiobooks for each are amazing so I'd recommend listening to them if you have that option.

Edited to add: Another thought: Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? could probably work as a book you could read in one day, it's a very fast read.

Steph (stephsaporito) | 9 comments Thanks! I'll definitely check them both out! I'll probably download a sample of them both and see which one sticks!

Athol-mary | 11 comments Jaycee Dugard "A Stolen Life" has been recommended to me as an interesting choice to read for a memoir.

Danielle (danielle_jhnsn) I read Angela's Ashes in high school and really enjoyed that one. It's based on a poor Irish, Catholic family.
