The Restaurant at the End of the Universe -- The classic sequel to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking -- A delightful "dark children's story" about a young "wizard of bread" growing up fast.
The Drawing of the Dark -- The siege of Vienna was really about a mystical beer.
The Windup Girl -- The best-written of these books, not about cooking and food, but about access to plant stock genetics, ... and much, much more.
But the best fantasy book involving food and cooking I know is the second book of the The Sarantine Mosaic duology -- Lord of Emperors. Two viewpoint characters are cooks and much of the plot revolves around kitchens of the hippodrome factions in this alternative version of Byzantium.
Two that I have not read:
The Sol Majestic -- This one I want to read! Food and philosophy...
Sunshine -- Vampires and a bakery to die for... While I'm told it's good, and the vampires are at least not twinkly, I'm not sure I can stomach this one.
Finding an SFF book built around food could be tough, so I will happily take anything that has a memorable scene about some food, a drink, a diner, a banquet...
My inspiration came from this article.
