forsanolim | 526 comments Nik (short for Nikole), forced by her five-month fling to attend a baseball game to celebrate his birthday, is shocked to see her name (misspelled) appear in a marriage proposal on the Jumbotron. Rescued from a subsequent mob of cameras by Carlos Ibarra (a side character from the previous book in this series) and his sister, Nik is extremely skeptical about the prospects of a relationship for her, as she's had--besides the Jumbotron now-ex--a series of pretty lousy, belittling boyfriends. But the two strike up a quick friendship that involves... a bit more than just friendship.

I really liked the cast of characters in this book. Besides the two main characters themselves, Nik's friends and Carlos's family were really sweet, as was the whole side plot with the self-defense class. And because I legitimately liked both characters and their low-stress relationship, this was an enjoyable book to read. However, it did frustrate me a little bit that this book was very sex-driven, in that the (plentiful, though not graphic) sex drove their relationship more or less from the get-go. While there's nothing wrong with that per se, I just prefer my romance reads to be a little more driven by romance itself, if you will. To be clear, there was definitely a lot of stuff that happened in this book besides sex, but it was just a bit prominent for my tastes.
