I'm not sure what he means. Interesting that he spends so much time on Venus (sex) but says it isn't centrally important."Eros makes abstinence easier." Interesting claim, probably true. If I really care about the other, I can set aside my pleasure/need for his/her greater good.
Happiness is a byproduct of Eros, and the aim isn't one's own happiness but the other's. And isn't this agape?
Making lovers believe that all the things they are doing are justified by love. Lewis has achieve to make me question if I have in my life meet real love.
