"my name is Ally. I am 14 years old. There are six people in my family." I don't know the next sentence, but I think it says "I have been taking Chinese lessons for four years"? "I like books, swimming, and [I know this character but forget what it means]. My favorite colors are purple and yellow"?? "[something about Snickers] I like [more characters I learned and forgot]. What about you?"

*staring blankly at the computer*
it's "i've been in chinese class since grade 4" ( the 一 is extra im assuming) and "i like reading, playing video games, and exercise/sports" "my favorite color is yellow" "i have a cat named snickers" "chinese food is my favorite" yea pretty much
Close I guess. Waaaaaayyy better than I expected.

I just don't. I tried but I can't.
my accent never happened, and I just can't memorize written characters and pronunciations.

Oh...that's too bad. I can't memorize the characters either, but since my mom speaks Mandarin I get a lot of listening/speaking practice.
ohhh that makes sense. Both my parents are Indonesian so I basically grew up with that. I can't read or write it very well, but I also don't consider English to be my first language since I didn't learn it primarily.

If I listen closely enough, I can vaguely figure out what's going on. But that's only for simple conversations. I can't speak it or write it.
I used to take Mandarin classes, but all the kids there already knew how to speak it because their parents actively used it at home. Oh, and I don't have the accent, so it's difficult.
