Personally, I didn't like this series (and I read all seven books.) I feel that the characters were one-dimensional, the plots contrived, and the writing style. . . bad, to say the least. The worldbuilding was good, though, but there are definitely better series to read
This is no longer my most favorite series (that crown belongs to throne of glass of you were wondering :D) but it was the one that really made me want to read more books. Sure I'd read many books before that but this really got me into reading, so I'll always have a really special attachment with it XD

T.O.T.A.L.L.Y Same. THG & TID already took the crown, though they are still on my faves list.

I just read the first three books, but tbh i do not have motivation to continue because of what JKR said...
That's true what she said was absolutely senseless. But do read the series! I like to think that the fandom is as important heck more important than the author. I read this really beautiful thing somewhere, she (JKR) may have given us the boy who lived, but we (fandom) are the ones who made him immortal.

JKR is a clown, but her writing was pretty ok... Her worldbuilding and atmosphere is the stuff, but the clownery is not! Separate the art from the artist whenever possible, amiright
I know that I am very late to this discussion, but I don't think that just because of JKR's opinions, we should stop reading her books or start hating them. I mean, you can do whatever you want, but to me, Harry Potter means a LOT. It is almost a part of me and these are the only books which makes me happy, how much ever upset I am. I can't count the number of times I've read the books, and discussed them with my friends and sister. The number of times I've turned to JKR's characters to transport me to their magical, wonderful world where I really wish to live. And once I am transported into that world, I experience a joy that I just can't express.
Whatever you may think of JKR, she is my favorite author and will continue to be so. People say that she didn't write anything else other than Harry Potter, but they are just uninformed because JK Rowling has written many other books. And I don't mind if they aren't as famous. Because, what is famous, JKR has written it with perfection.

Your points are so true! One couldn't agree more.

:)
Umm.... I really love Harry Potter but I am so confused after reading these comments. Can someone please tell me what J. K Rowling said? I don't know anything.
It''s a long story, but basically, a while back, she slammed this article that said "people who menstruate" and not just women, so as to, you know, include non-binary people as well. She was like "say woman", and basically coming out as a disgusting transphobe. Long story short - she was cancelled. As she should be.
