the kingdom of agria //semi-advanced// discussion
Eadlyn pushed open the door.โYou needed me your highness?โ she called.
When she didnโt get a response she went over towards a mirror. She redid her hair and wiped her glasses. Then she heard the queenโs voice.
The Queen walks in and looks around. There is no one in here at the moment. She sits down on the couch with perfect posture. She wasn't about to stop following a lady's rules. Bethany reflected finery as she sat on the couch. She wondered where the girls were at the moment other than the garden. Probably in their rooms or in the gardens.
The Queen nodded to Eadlyn's question. "Yes, I need to know which Selected girls have arrived. And which ones haven't quite yet." Bethany kept her posture on the couch as she looked over to Eadlyn. "Also I need to know how the Prince is doing so far. Come on, sit," Bethany gestured for the advisor to sit next to her.
Eadlyn sat.โI just found Natalia and Pearl mingling with the Prince,โ she said. โAnd heโs doing just fine Iโm sure. I think this yearโs selection will be wonderful for him. Donโt you think so too your highness?โ
The Queen nods. "That's good he really needs to meet all the girls soon. And I'm sure it will be. I am the one who arranged it for him," she smiles, still holding her posture. "If he isn't acting like a prince please report," Bethany tells her.
Eadlyn remembered the Princeโs last words to her before she walked out. Eadlyn had perfect manners. She was just teasing the girls. He had no sense of humor.โHe did say heโd fire me,โ she said.
Prince Evermony knocked on the door politely. He knew his mother was in there and she would demand a report about his day. He wasn't allowed in the room so he waited patiently outside, his heart thumping wildly with all his doubts. What if I'm not good enough? What if mother knew I hadn't been exactly 'high-and-mighty' as she expected? What if she catches me losing my reputation in front of the girls? His thoughts weren't pleasant at all and there he stood like a frightened child in the empty hallways with no sound at all except for his own breathing.
Bethany nods at the report. "And why is that?" she asks but then the Queen hears the knocking and goes to answer it. "Hello, son. Come in," she gestures for him to come in. "So how did today go?" she asked. She searched his eyes, he seemed nervous. 'You are supposed to act royal and refined not like a scared little imp. You are a prince,' she thought.
Eyeing his mother's fierce gaze, he dropped his eyes respectfully. "Today has gone well, mother. The girls had been lovely and interesting. I enjoyed the time spent with them and I totally think the Selection is a meaningful way for me to know more about the outside world." He said mechanically, eyeing the room discreetly. There seemed to be a few more girls lounging here and there but he dared not stare in case his mother got angry.
Queen Bethany nodded. She knew her son well, he really seemed to be trying his best. Her gaze softened a teensy bit. "That's good. And I would have to agree with that the Selection is a way to know the outside world," she tells her son.
Sandra walks toward the women's room and sees the prince go in. She follows him inside and sees the Queen is there. She goes and sits on the couch eyeing the prince. He seemed nice but also under a lot of stress from his mother. The Queen was strict she knew but she didn't know how much. She wonders if she she should go talk to them or not.
Prince Evermony relaxed slightly. "Umm, mom? Should I go meet the Selected girls here? I feel that it's my responsibility and my pleasure to do so." He said carefully.
((Yeah, I'll do that))
"Of course. You still have so many of them you need to meet," the Queen says pointedly. She looks around at all the girls in there. One had just walked in and seemed to be eyeing them. She seemed to be contemplating on whether to come over. "There are a few in here, you better get started," Bethany tells her son.
He nodded and approached a girl carefully. "Umm, hi I guess?" He said smiling, running his hands through his hair in the awkwardness of being eyed by his mum and at the same time not knowing what else to say. The girl seemed friendly enough but who knows? Appearances can't tell you everything.
"Hello," Sandra says a little shyly and with a little wave. She scolded herself, 'Quit it, he's the prince. You don't have to be nervous. Also, the Queen is watching. Make this easier for him.' "I'm Sandra. How are you?" she asks smiling.
"I'm good." He said grinning. "What's your name?" He asked, mentally cursing for not being able to remember all their names.
He thought the girl was rather friendly so he sat down beside her casually. "So, tell me about yourself." He tried to sound 'high-and-mighty', putting on a show for his mum, at the same time winking to her to show that he wasn't the pompous brat he was acting to be.
"I'm Sandra," she repeated. Sandra noticed his wink and went along with the act. "Well I love the water but that's because I'm a water elemental. I love exploring and books," she grinned. The Prince seemed fine so far so she sat on the couch casually as well.
He nodded and was secretly pleased that she had understood and was willing to put on the act for his sake. "Well, that's all very interesting but what do you explore? And where?" He couldn't resist his bubbling curiosity and masked that with indifferent politeness. He so desperately wanted to do the same as her - reading and exploring as they had seemed fun and exciting. But well, he's the prince and he probably couldn't be daydreaming about all that 'luxuries'
((So, d'you think it's okay if Eadlyn comes in tomorrow and sends the prince on that mission I've posted under the announcements thread while I'm away?))
((Sure. That sounds great ))
"Well, I want to explore the depths of the sea but my father is overprotective. He won't let me. I wish I could though. I know I have enough magic to survive down there even though there are sharks. I normally have to sit on the beach and stare at the water, daydreaming instead," Sandra tells him sighing.
"At least you have the luxury to daydream. Here, it is almost impossible for one to take a break." He muttered in a barely audible voice. "So, you're rather bold, huh? Exploring the sea, a lot of people would rather stay safely on the shore for fears of the seemingly haunted wreck and the of course, man-eating sharks." He looked at her pointedly. "Your father do has a point."
"Yeah, I do have that luxury." Sandra says quietly than grows and then makes herself audible. "I've never thought of myself as bold but I guess I am. I just want to know what's down there and see something of Argia's past. I want to know what happened that resulted in the shipwreck. But obviously I see why my father doesn't allow me to go down there. That's why I haven't but I always wish I could. Can I tell you the honest truth?" Sandra asks Prince Evermony, looking him in the eye.
The prince nodded. "Sure, it isn't like I have anyone to tell here." He smiled and held her gaze. Her eyes were full of determination and courage that he admired her for that. Through these girls, he could see different life stories and he cherished them tremendously in his heart.
Sandra nodded and lowered her voice a little. "I didn't actually tell my dad I signed up. He's probably really worried because I up and left. I'm hoping he sees the Selection list so he knows where I am at least. Please don't tell anyone." Sandra keeps her gaze while she talks.
"What?!" The prince whispered, horrified. "You didn't tell him?! I'm going to..." He started and then shook his head. "He'll most probably see your name on the news then. You-I-I just can't imagine doing anything without letting my parents know. Guess it's another downside of being a prince, huh?" He said.
"Yeah, I guess it is. I feel like the outside world is definitely more carefree than your world. Also, it's obvious I'm not the best behaving child but I'll learn. I'm eighteen as well, I can make decisions for myself. And I wouldn't keep anything from my father if he was the King," Sandra tells him.
"Well a warm reminder to you, my mother's just nearby. I wouldn't want to say something like that in front of her if I were you." He said, his eyes twinkling. The girl was surely brave and terribly blunt. "So, I guess you're not the best person for me to learn from." He added, laughing at her indignant expression.
"Oh yeah, I kinda forgot about that," she smiles. "I'll try not to. And yeah, I'm definitely not the best person to learn from," Sandra's eyes twinkle as well. The Prince was really kind but sheltered too. She smiled at this, she would help him see the world.
He shook his head. "You'd better at least try to act like a lady while you're here. If not, I'm not sure whether you'll still be part of the Selection or not... and it's hard saying goodbye when you've just had me warm up to you." He warned her. "Promise me you'll try?" ((I need to go eat first, brb))
The Queen watches them and smiles. Her boy was talking to the girl and was acting like a Prince! Things were going well. She couldn't hear part of what they were saying but she just wanted The Selection to go well and as planned. They seemed to be enjoying themselves too. She would have to ask him for a report later and the girl's name.
"I promise I'll try. I definitely don't want to leave and I want to experience the palace as much as I can. I can act regal, I just have to have the proper motivation." Sandra smiles. She definitely didn't want to leave just yet.
"Motivation? Am I enough motivation for you?" He asked, giving her a mischievous grin. He was glad that she had wanted to stay, maybe she was staying for the palace, maybe she just wanted a challenge, but he felt that the two of them could hit it off rather well. He would definitely wanted someone he could talk freely to here. A friend... His heart sang at thay delicious thought and for the first time in his life, he felt hopeful.
"Yes, of course, you are enough motivation. I also want to prove that I can be more than disobedient and a responsible young woman," Sandra smiles. She was really hitting it off with the Prince. She could easily talk to him too and was able to be truthful. She smiled at that.
"Good to hear that." He smiled genuinely. He looked around the room and saw his mom there, trying very hard to look away but perking up to listen to their conversation. He inwardly groaned.
"So, where do you wanna go?" He asked her, wanting to escape from this rather awkward and suffocating room.
((Pls not the gardens, let them go somewhere else...))
"How about the library. Or is that haunted? Maybe one of our rooms? Or the Great Hall?" Sandra suggested. "I don't know the palace well enough yet." Sandra saw that he was trying to escape the awkwardness with his mother but didn't know where to go.
"The library then." He said cheerfully. "It is surely haunted, just don't tell my mother." He was finally going to the library where his mother had forbidden him to since he was born. He felt thrills of anticipation and couldn't wait to head into the library. "I'm game. What about you? Or are you too afraid to do that?" He smirked playfully.
"Oh, I am not afraid," She smirked playfully as well. She couldn't wait to see it for she loved books. Also, a haunted library sounded fun. There was surely something adventurous about going in there. Also, hanging out with the prince more, she was definitely game.
The Queen smiles as her son leaves with the selected girl. 'Good,' she thinks and stands up keeping her posture. She stands up and goes to the door. She heads out wondering what the selected girl's name is. She sighs, she'd have to ask Eadlyn about that. She goes back toward her room.
The Queen walks in, a royal air envelops around her. She goes and sits on the couch in perfect posture. It would be up to the girls to come to talk to her. If they didn't, there would be no hope for the Selection. She looks around as she waits and studies the girls. There was definitely a mixture of Elements as planned.
(( Remember at least five sentences per post Hestia. Also, Natalia can just walk into the Women's Room, she doesn't have to knock btw ))
"Hello, Lady Natalia." At least one girl had the bravery to come up and speak to her. Her smile is formal and she nods. The girl was acting regal and poised at least. She seemed like a nice enough girl.
"It's nice to meet. Come, sit. I'm glad someone isn't too scared to talk to me. I'm the Queen, not some monster that you need to stay away from." Queen Bethany gestures for Natalia to come to sit next to her on the couch. The Queen's posture was perfect as always.
((does this count as 5 sentences?))
((It's long enough. I gtg tho but I'll be back in like and hour or maybe less time))
"I guess I am," Queen Bethany nods but doesn't laugh. She does give a small smile. "And my son sure shouldn't want to disappoint me. I work hard to make all this work and I can't have him ruining it." She sighs but keeps her posture. Royalness radiates off her.
