I think I will nominate Station Eleven. I was going back and forth between this and The Years of Rice and Salt....I still might change my mind again.....

Dan Off the TBR pile, eh? Well, this book was first nominated in this group in 2011, nominated again by a moderator in late 2012, and mentioned by me in message #7 in this topic in 2013 (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... it's #29 on the list), but since then the book has dropped off everyone's radar. Maybe it's because the title makes it sound religious. I hereby nominate again Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 372 comments I'll second and vote for The Postman, one of my all time favorites.

Dan The Postman is one of my all time favorites too. I gave it five stars, a rating I rarely give. But since I have read it I will not be voting for it, in preference of reading something new. I have always been confused about why people would vote for something they have already read. I have never done, or considered doing, that. Not criticizing, just curious.

Peter Damnation Alley - Roger Zelazny.

Whilst not strictly a TBR, it is an often read.

How about On the Beach by Nevil Shute?

message 14: by Peter (new)

Peter Not really SF

Alternate history now I reckon, and pretty much Post-Apocalypse when written. So, perhaps OK?

I could go for either of those.

ok, making poll right now!

message 18: by Peter (new)

Peter You made the poll, but I note that my nomination didn't make the cut. I'm interested in what you think is a conforming book should be.

After all, a TBR, by definition, can't have realistic reviews.

I think I won't bother with afficionados who have NFI.

wow, I must be getting dementia...I am so sorry,

message 24: by Dan (new)

Dan It's not on you, Maggie. Any of us members can create a topic and begin discussion of any book. It's very obvious how to do this and not the least bit difficult. Clearly, there was not interest by the membership in actually reading this book, only in voting to read it.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 372 comments Or reading it but not necessarily discussing it.

message 26: by Dan (last edited Mar 30, 2021 05:52PM) (new)

Dan Yes, let's all do our reading secretly together.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 372 comments I'm trying not to be offended here but just because no one has started a discussion does not mean anything negative about the book or the readers.
