Hey Dan - what usually triggers your anxiety while writing? (Coming up with an idea- or sticking to one, planning, writing, etc) I’ve recently gotten into meditation and ASMR, not related to helping my writing anxiety but just in general I’ll have relax sessions with myself and listen to meditative or asmr videos or shutting out technology while I work/write and it’s helped me.
I have generalized anxiety - which I'm getting better with. I've been "blocked" across the board on creative activity, but once I break through (fingers crossed every day) I'm sure I'll hit more specific issues as I sit down to write.
Continuing this conversation, I dabbled in meditation but found I couldn't make it a habit. It does seem like some writers have rituals around writing which might be good for managing anxiety - at a minimum I'll try meditation again and maybe I can stick with it as part of a writing practice. Do other folks have writing rituals, anxiety related or otherwise? Specific music or even, I don't know, scented candles? A "shrine" where the only thing they do in that space is write?
