St. Bartholomew's Abbey was surrounded by the vastness of the Sierra Nevada, on the California side of the border. The primeval forests that clothed the rising slopes were themselves cloaked in darkness.
- Brother Odd, Chapter One

August is winding down, September is forthcoming. Thanks to everyone who is reading along. It's never too late to catch the Odd Thomas Reading Train.

Matthew | 183 comments I'm about 100 pages into this one (my favorite Odd) and the vivid descriptions and fun supporting characters (love Brother Knuckles and the Mother Superior) make this re-read--my 3rd I think--lots of fun.

Mary (broomemarygmailcom) | 378 comments This is my favorite in the Odd series. (so far, one more time :-) ). I am glad for the nudge from Koontzland to read it again.

I went to Catholic grade (1-8) school when there were still nuns. I could almost substitute the names of my teachers for the Sisters in the book. It was a fun walk down memory lane and I laughed out loud for at least the first quarter of the book...maybe more. I appreciated the pokes at the monastery (both the Brothers and the Nuns). Koontz is a master having you laugh through the rules, rituals, and characters without ever disrespecting them.

The story was creepy at times without being gross- ok, maybe a little. Considering, hauntings, blizzards with whiteouts and ice and topping all that off with a ghost a somewhat mad scientist, and mysterious government spy types running around and oh yeah the bodacs are back---very good not to feel the need for spicing it up with horror. Haha. Thanks, Dean
This was a fun and thrilling ride.

Fred (fredderoche) The Amazon Overdrive (audio) is read by “David Aaron Baker”. His “tone” brings easy/calm flow without “horror”. He’s makes listening great and the book smooth...

I have given up on audio for now...I lose my place, fall asleep and generally lose focus. I'll try it again for sure, everyone seems to like them.

Karen Dandurant (karendandurant) | 88 comments I find that audiobooks are perfect for the many hours I am on the road. At home, I need books.

I like the way you think. I'm enjoying Brother Odd much more than Forever Odd. Will probably finish Brother Odd this week.

I'm definitely a fan of Brother Odd. For many years I claimed it as my favorite in the Odd Thomas Series, but I want to re-read the entire series before I declare it for certain. Odd Hours, Odd Interlude and Odd Apocalypse are also favorites of mine. I think Forever Odd has always been my least favorite.

Yep, good idea to not jump right in and declare my love! Doing that has cost me much heartache! Haha
Always been a sucker for laughs...

Susan Beamon (susanbeamon) | 71 comments I surprised myself, I finished this one the other day. The science was a little strange, but we're talking about quanta. Intention is important with quantum mechanics. I'm liking Odd as a character.

Kirstin Viland | 9 comments I just finished... fell a bit behind...

I have to say that this one was so good. Definitely my favorite Odd book so far.

Odd Interlude is also quite good. Odd Interlude and Brother Odd are my two favorites in the series. I'm still re-reading, currently on Odd Apocalypse so my rankings could change during the next 2 1/2 books.

My Odd Thomas Rankings so far upon re-reading:
1. Odd Interlude
2. Brother Odd
3. Odd Thomas
4. Odd Hours
5. Forever Odd
