The House of the Spirits question

I read this book maybe 5 or less years ago, at my cousins house maybe. It was about a girl who went to stay with her grandfather, and woke up spirits in a shrine. Her grandfather would clean it every day, but some kids she met at a store I think convinced her to go with them at night. I don't remember too much else, other than that her family was Japanese and her grandfather had a mechanical seal per to keep him company.
