Rosemarie | 297 comments I'm reading a book set in Mauritius called The Last Brother by Nathacha Appanah. It was published in French in 2007 and was translated into English in 2010.
I'm very impressed so far.

Gail (gailifer) | 273 comments The Last Brother sounds good. I noticed that Tan Twang Eng, the author of The Garden of Evening Mists has a newly published book out called: The House of Doors if you haven't read something for Malaysia.
Also I am currently reading: Texaco which is about Martinique and so far it is a fabulous book.

Amanda Dawn | 308 comments The Giller prize longlist came out recently (biggest literature prize in Canada), and one of the books on it- We, the Kindling-takes place mostly in Uganda, about girls abducted by the Kony's rebels. It is by an Ugandan Canadian author who is part of the Ugandan diaspora. I read it today (it is on some libby libraries and is available as an audiobook as well), and is a sometimes disturbing but great read.
