Colleen | 2 comments I discovered Brandon Sanderson with the audiobook “Elantris” earlier this year and immediately searched for more. I’m at book 4 of the Mistborn series and book 2 of the Stormlight Archives.
I pretty much only listen to audiobooks from the library, so options are a bit limited. It sounds like I should actually buy the 10th Anniversary edition with the maps.

Slick | 76 comments If you are a newish Sanderson fan I'd recommend:

17th shard (Fan forums),

There is also Coppermind- It is essentially a wiki page of all the Sanderson stuff.

Finally, wob.coppermind (WOB = Word of Brandon) it is a little extra information from books/characters/ future events in books.

Be very careful of spoilers though

Pål (plbreienabrahamsen) | 30 comments I’d stay away from those places completly until you’ve read at least all Mistborn and Stormlight books. You dont wanna accidentaly spoil these awsome series! Then dive inn to the comere if you want :) Listeing is good and Kate Redding and Michael Kramer is great, but I recommend reading yourself the first time through.

Colleen | 2 comments Thanks for all the advice! I agree that reading the physical books are the best way to read first. It has been a real challenge getting into the story/world via audiobook. At least they have a descriptor of the chapters so I can keep my place, go back to listen again and know how names are spelled.
The complexness of the worlds makes me want to buy the physical books, which is super refreshing!

17th shard forums are amazing for the hardcore fans, or if you're looking for something specific- for anyone who also wants more general banter and conversation with other like-minded Sanderson fans, check out the 17th Shard's Discord (https://discord.com/invite/G3Ct3V?utm...)

I've done plenty of work myself on the Coppermind databases, and once you've read Stormlight and Mistobrn, you can get lost for HOURS just scrolling through the WoB's and learning so so many crazy little tidbits of info about the Cosmere and everything!

Aktar | 3 comments Martijn, that’s wonderful! Welcome to the Cosmere. I would add Warbreaker to your list as well 😊

Jesse | 21 comments Yes, I really liked Warbreaker. I also think Elantris is over hated, or is it just me?

message 9: by Aktar (new)

Aktar | 3 comments I’m with you there, Jesse. I think Elantris is Sanderson’s first published book. My least favorite in the Cosmere. I started it twice and only made it through a quarter of it. Maybe I’ll power through it this year 😆

Lauren | 9 comments There is also a Sanderson Collectors Guild Discord if you want to talk about the books themselves and what’s out there to purchase and a website as well with a database of ALL the books https://discord.gg/B6HBktuq. https://collectingsanderson.com

Audrey (niceyackerman) | 33 comments My first was The Rithmatist, then Elantris. Got super sucked in with Stormlight.

Melissa (melissa12345678) | 1 comments Hello :) brand new to Sanderson, am almost finished Mistborn book 1 and am sooo hooked already. I literally can't read anything else lol. I have a huge stack of library books waiting and I NEED to keep reading Mistborn! ❤️❤️

Bad People | 1 comments I'm brand new! I finally made it over here after hearing so many people recommend Brandon's books!
I originally started reading wheel of time since I heard that he helped write it, though I didn't realize that was much later in the series.
Unfortunately, that writing style was something I'd never laid eyes on before, lol! I had a difficult time connecting with it and ended up dnf ING it as a result... I thought "well, that's Brandon's writing style and it just doesn't work for me.". Thankfully I randomly decided to listen to the audiobook for mistborn and... it was awesome! Brandon's got a lot of skill to choreograph fight scenes so well. I totally them happening in my head!
I've just got to recover from that feeling of putting off reading it for the fear it wouldn't be my cup of tea for so long only to have so much fun reading it! It's like I'm looking back and seeing a massive pit in my soul 😔

Awesome! I made it about two pages into WoT. Maybe I'll try again.
