Jane (PS) | 25184 comments 1. Introduce yourself to your team. Let your team members know where you are from. This is a great to know when themes are announced and when team-mates can expect other members to post their book choices.

2. Jedi - reserve a couple of posts in this thread tracking your team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert a chat comment to the tracking post/s.)

3. Name your team. Using this round's theme of Disney+, come up with a team name. We are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)

Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by early Wednesday 4 September.

4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2.

5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including names to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!

* don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full within that post.

You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.

I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.

Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.

6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you expect to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation.

7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.

8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.

9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)

10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A Annoucement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.

The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week if Option 2 is used, members must select their book from another team. This will be advised in the week 11 announcement.

Jane (PS) | 25184 comments Key selection and completion post information. You must have ALL elements in your book posts.

The format for selection posts Option 1:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
How the book qualifies - please link or name the qualifying bookshelf/list where applicable (link if possible).
If the theme is based off the bookcover, post the cover. If there is a letter count in the title, publication date etc, please note these details.

The format for selection posts Option 2:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
Name of the team-member, their star rating, the date they read the book.

Format for completion posts:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Rating (1-5)
Review

Please DO NOT CHAT in these selection/completion posts. It needs to be super clear.

If you 'waffle' about your decided book - please REPOST your selection once you decide. DO NOT go back and edit your waffling post.

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4348 comments Theme Tracking

1. The service primarily streams films and television series produced by Walt Disney corporations.

* Read a book on one of the following lists that has been, or should be, made into a Film or TV series.
Romance books that need to be made into movies
Historical Romance that should be made into a movie
Books that Made the Box Office
MM Romance - want to watch this on screen

2. Disney+ debuted in the USA, Canada and the Netherlands on November 12, 2019.

* Read a book published in November 2019.
You must quote the date of publication - any edition's date of publication will count.

3. A week later, the Disney+ service was expanded to Australia, New Zealand and Puerto Rico.

* Read a book set in Australia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico or in the broader Caribbean region.
Qualification may be found in precis, main page, tag/shelf or list.

4. 10 million users subscribed to Disney+ on its first day of operation.

* Read a book with over 10,000 ratings.

5. Disney+

* Read a book with punctuation or a symbol in the title as shown on the bookcover.
An ampersand counts. Series titles do not count.

6. Disney+ features many movies that are made in cartoon format.

* Read a book that is also available in a graphic novel format OR read a book with a drawn cover.
You must specify which option you are using in your post when showing 'how it fits' AND include the bookcover edition as proof.

7. There are a lot of 'classic' movies and serials on Disney+

* Read a 'classic' book from one of the following lists:
Great Romance Novels
I Don't Understand All That Fuss
Timeless MM romance
Teen Girl Classics

8. The Star Wars movies are a major attraction to the streaming service.

* Read a book with Science Fiction as a main page genre (MPG) OR read a book with a title of no more than eight letters. Eg Bond, Kaleb, Desire, I Was Here
Series titles do not count for this task.
You must specify which option you are using in your post when showing 'how it fits'.

9. Due to COVID-19, 'Hamilton' (the musical film) has skipped the cinematic release scheduled for October 15, 2021 and instead had a digital worldwide release on July 3, 2020 on Disney+. More than a year early!

* Read a book on one of the following 'Can't Wait' romance lists:
Can't Wait MM Romance of 2019
Can't Wait MM Romance of 2020
Can't Wait Sci-Fi Fantasy of 2020

10. National Geographic is a very popular option on Disney+

* Read a book with an animal on cover.
'Animal' definition: any living animal other than a human being.
Birds and insects count. Must be a real animal, not mythical. A drawn bookcover that includes an animal will count, but not statues etc.
You must post the bookcover for qualification.

11. The National Geographic magazine has been published continuously since its first issue on September 22, 1888.

* Read a book with a publication date with double numbers within that date.
You may convert the month to numbers. The following dates qualify: July 22, 2018 (22), November 01, 2015 (11), August 13, 2002 (00). Any edition's date of publication will count.

12. The Simpsons back catalogue is available for more of Bart, Homer, Marge, Lisa et al! ...Have you noticed how all the names are short? Even the writers' names are short - Matt, James, Dan, Al, Sam, Mike, John etc (Yes, I am conveniently leaving out a few names for the sake of this category ;)

*Read a book with an MC whose first name is less than 6 letters long.
Qualification must be quoted in the précis; please provide an extract. Nicknames will work.

SugarKink BDSM
Sexy Curves (The outcome of the sit-in ;)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4348 comments Hey all!

My name is Amanda (obviously), and I'm a lawyer living in the metro Detroit area with my husband and our rowdy beagle. I read almost exclusively MM books (will occasionally, but rarely, venture outside of them), but they're my bread and butter. I read A LOT, and have seriously no other hobbies, so challenges like this are my favorite!

This is my first time doing this challenge, so seasoned players feel free to shout out any suggestions or things you think I'm missing. I'm on Goodreads a lot, so am fairly accessible, and my work is only working 80% of the time, probably for the rest of the fiscal year so I have all of mondays to devote to reading!

I've put some team name suggestions in Msg 12 (these all came from my husband scrolling through Disney+ and giggling at what he came up with so will not be offended if you think of something better!). Please introduce yourself and offer up any suggestions for names or vote on your favorites!

I will be around tomorrow morning for a little, but my parents are in town and we are house hunting for part of the day (we get COVID tested before we all get together, so it's safe, I promise!), so I might not be here when the team is called, but I'm looking forward to reading with you all!

Janeylou | 3237 comments Hi Amanda..you got me ..sorry 😄😄😄

Hi everyone
My name in Janine from Birmingham in England, I have 4 daughters, two of which still live at home and I work part time in a coffee shop. I also do fostering of small animals ( mainly guinea pigs ) for the RSPCA.
I'm a very chatty person so I'm hoping some of you are as well 😊😊
Ive not played this game before, but it looks similat to the bingo in the MM group ( which also starts next week ), so im sure ill pick it up.

Im afraid im not much of a disney fan so googled a list of films ....and got a bit of a shock 😱😱HOW MANY ..
and all i could come up with was Four-tasia , 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Teresa (teresab78) | 1107 comments I too read almost exclusively mm! I’m from Southern Alberta in Canada, and have a husband, two daughters in their teens, and four cats! I don’t work outside the home so manage time to read and crochet when my hands will let me. I’ve done this challenge before (and am also signed up for bingo) and I’m excited!

message 16: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1107 comments I like the Mandifourian!

message 17: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4348 comments So many MM readers, it'll make option two so easy!

My very first pet was a guinea pig and I adored her. I used to take her everywhere in a suitcase (and now that I'm not 5 years old I realize that's not okay 😂)

I also wish I could crochet, I keep trying to teach myself and can make a mean washcloth at this point, but absolutely nothing else.

What are the time zones where you two are at? I totally forgot to ask!

Laura..devouring books like crumpets (lauzacookie) | 1331 comments Hey all!

Janeylou | 3237 comments Hi Teresa & Laura..good to have someone in a similar time zone ..although since all this C19 ive noticed people on here at all times of the day 😄

My daughter expecting first baby soon and i was going to try and crochet a blanket , then a neighbour did one for her so i decided not to bother as mine would look awful next to hers ..i do a lot of tapestries and cross stitches though

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4348 comments Hey Laura! UF and Paranormal are my favorites too (I just tend to read the MM variety of them). And I visited Greece after graduating law school and LOVED IT. I'm a complete introvert, so overall this quarantining doesn't bother me, but I really do miss traveling

It's a play on mandalorian. If you've seen Star Wars think Boba or Jango Fett. It was Disney+'s first original show. If you've seen baby Yoda floating around the internet, it's from the Mandalorian. (I have a boba fett tattoo, and my instagram name is a play on Amandalorian, so it's a big favorite of mine lol)

message 30: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1107 comments I’m in Mountain time.

Crocheting takes a little practice but even when I mess up people still love what I give them. Lol. I do mostly squares and rectangles (blankets, scarves, hot mats, dish clothes etc) though I have done a few hats and I made water “balloons” out of yarn. They kind of splat when you soak and throw them. I want to try something more challenging but I have a few projects I need to finish up before I start anything new.

I love Star Wars and will be happy with whatever anyone chooses for a name :)

Paranormal romance, both mf and mm, are my preference though I have read excellent mm contemporary. I also like sci-fi and fantasy.

message 31: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4348 comments Oooh wait, I really like Reading up a Storm...Trooper! I think it also better fits those that maybe aren't Star Wars fans. I am also good with anything (and am the least decisive person, I think my family LOVED house hunting with me lol)

I am doing both speedy and regular bingo, the last month of SH, and still have some quarterly challenges to finish. I told myself I wouldn't sign up for as many quarterly challenges this time around, but can already feel my resolve wavering

message 39: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4348 comments I'm lucky because we got married in March so I had just lost a bunch of weight before quarantine, so the weight I've gained has plenty of places to go 😂

message 40: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1107 comments I’ve spent the last year and a half losing over 90lbs! Still plenty cuddly and have a bit more to go to reach my goal but I’m happy I didn’t gain during these last 6 months!! My girls still appreciate the cuddly hugs even as teenagers. Lol

Nayara (nayalink) | 630 comments Hello, everyone!!!

I'm Nayara from Brazil. I love romance and read most anything (contemporany, historical, paranormal). I'm also a sucker for urban fantasy books. It's my first time doing this challenge and I'm really excited.

message 43: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4348 comments Congrats Teresa! That's amazing (assuming you were trying to lose weight).

Yeah we got really lucky with the wedding. We had initially wanted the week after, but the date was booked, which ended up being lucky as we would've had to cancel!

message 44: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4348 comments Welcome Nayara!

I've found I can't really enjoy a book that doesn't at least have some romance element in it. Makes this group a good one for challenges!

message 45: by Nayara (new)

Nayara (nayalink) | 630 comments Sometimes I like to use other genres but I'm so much slower reading them. After the Bachelor challenge, I got a little tired of romance. But while I can read 5-10 romance books/week I can only do 2-3 from other things.
