Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments Hi, I'm Minerva, and I just turned into 7th grade. I am a great reader, and a honest to goodness crammer(only with books). I'll pretty much read any book, but tries to avoid some movies. I want to be an Science teacher, a librarian, a WWII historian, or an interior designer when I grow up. Well anyway, nice to meet you.

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments New members, post your name, a bit about yourself, and on second thought, a book, or series, that should definitely be made into a movie.

message 3: by Gilly 2 (new)

Gilly 2 (gilly2) | 8 comments Hi, I’m Gilly 2, but I guess you can just call me Gilly as a nickname ( because I can’t give away my name) and because the 2 most likely makes no sense to anyone. Hmm... a little about myself? I LOVE Mary Poppins, DESPISE Mary Poppins Returns, I love Star Wars, hmm... what else? I like creating. I also like writing. My friend, Anna 2 (I’ll just call her Anna since the 2 probably makes no sense) Anna and I are writing a book that is a continuation of my favorite book series. Okay, I have only ever been REALLY interested in one book series: Fairy Tale Reform School. And I think those books should be made into a move! In fact, I’m writing a screenplay on it!

message 4: by Minerva (new)

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments Oh my god, you like Mary Poppins and Star Wars too? And FTRS should definitely become a movie, though Secrets of My Hollywood Life, also by Jen Calonita, would be a great candidate too.

message 5: by Minerva (new)

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments Yes!!! Although I've only read KOTLC in your list, it's a great series, with great characters, especially Sophie and Fitz, or Sophitz, if you prefer to call it that:)

message 6: by Minerva (new)

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments ooooohhhh

message 7: by yaybooks (last edited Aug 29, 2020 07:39PM) (new)

yaybooks | 64 comments Hello!
Since I have a really weird username, just call me R or somein.
I'm still a student, unfortunately, and have no idea what I want to become. I really love languages and science, so maybe a teacher like Minerva? (hi Minerva!) Ugh. We'll see when i pass stupid 7th grade.

So I'm not really a fan of seeing a book-adapted-movie, because they will never be better. But i really, really want to see a Rick Riordan book made into a movie decently. Like Kane Chronicles or Percy Jackson.
Oh I DNF-ed KOTLC too early, oops. Is it good? I might give it another go. I was ADDICTED to the first book, though.
Anyway, nice to meet everyone! Have a great day! I have to go do algebra now, lol.

message 8: by Anna (new)

Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments Hey, you can call me Hayley! I really like the FTRS series, Rick Roirden (did I spell that right?) books, and Agatha Christie mysteries. And yes I am working through Algebra too, lol

message 9: by Minerva (new)

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments Good luck with your Algebra:) Sadly, I also have pre-algebra, which sucks.

yaybooks | 64 comments Hayley wrote: "Hey, you can call me Hayley! I really like the FTRS series, Rick Roirden (did I spell that right?) books, and Agatha Christie mysteries. And yes I am working through Algebra too, lol"
Hi Hayley!
Ooh! Agatha Christie is the best. She's so cool, i can start rambling right now, but i will refrain from doing so the consequences are deadly lol

message 11: by Anna (new)

Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments Hey R! Yay! I found someone who likes Agatha Christie too! I actually just started Peroits last case. My favorite is the Murder of Robert Ackroyd! Have you ever red that one?? That one was so interesting! Do you have a favorite? Oh, have you ever read the Crooked House? That one was ingenious.

message 12: by yaybooks (new)

yaybooks | 64 comments Yep, loved Roger Ackroyd. And this book i remember specifically because i think it was the first book i guessed the murderer of. I know, I couldn't believe it for a week.
Hmmm, difficult to choose one, but my favorites are Five Little Pigs, Evil under the Sun, Poirot's Christmas and Appointment with Death. I adored And Then There Were None, but i felt positively evil after reading it for quite a while, so...
No, I haven't read crooked house unfortunately. I haven't read a bunch of them. But I'm planning to as soon as I can!
Nice to meet you Hayley! Hope we can talk more Christie when i finally come around to reading more of them! :l

message 13: by Minerva (new)

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments I can't join in on Agatha Christie, but I do like Conan Doyle and Maurice Leblanc. You know, Sherlock Holmes and Arsene Lupin, that stuff.

message 14: by yaybooks (last edited Aug 31, 2020 08:25AM) (new)

yaybooks | 64 comments Ah, Sherlock m'boy. I enjoyed his adventures so much. Especially when he's being a sarcastic boss.
i tried the BBC adaptation, and holy tacos was it was amazing. Has anyone watched it?

message 15: by Minerva (new)

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments No I've only read it. I don't watch that much American television channels. Or rather, my parents don't. But I'm willing to try it if my parents let me.*hopeful eyes*

message 16: by Anna (new)

Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments Ohhhhh, I finally finished And Then There Were None this summer. The only thing is you kinda have to focus to read them, but it's worth it. It gave me that trapped feeling, it was really creepy. Lol, I didn't read another mystery for a while either. I actually haven't read very many. Just Murder on the Orient Express, the Murder or Robert Ackroyd, The Crooked House, and Then There Were None. One thing I appreciate is that the murder generally happens quickly. Like, you don't have to wait 8 chapters. Also, it is so crazy how Christie gives you everything you need to know who did it, and then you find out who it is and you're like of course it was him or her! That makes total sense, but it never occurred to you that it would have been that character? The Crooked House was like that, it is so crazy. Sorry, I wrote a lot, lol

message 17: by Minerva (new)

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments I HAVE to read more murder mysteries. I've kind of been stuck in my read-only-WWII-books period that happens ever so often, and I just got out of it like 2 weeks ago so I need to read more genres.

message 18: by Anna (new)

Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments Try the Murder of Robert Ackroyd that ones my favorite! They can be a little confusing, but I think they're really interesting.

message 19: by Minerva (new)

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments I will def try that as soon as I finish the KOTLC series I'm reading. I think it'll take me about another 1.5 days, but that book is now on my asap tbr list.

message 20: by yaybooks (new)

yaybooks | 64 comments You're going to loooove Agatha. I feel excited for you lol

message 21: by Raz (new)

Raz 2 (clarissaclarissa) | 33 comments I'm Clarissa (or Raz 2. Most of you know what I'm talking about), and I'm going into 7th grade.

I love to read! I play piano and saxophone.. That's about it. Lih.

A Book Series that should be made into a movie:

lih.

Fairy Tale Reform School

Royal Academy Rebels

Sleepaway Girls/Summer State of Mind

Secrets of My Hollywood Life

Belles

Turn It Up (Maybe)

message 22: by Raz (new)

Raz 2 (clarissaclarissa) | 33 comments Oh! And the Willow Falls Series by Wendy Mass.

And The Mother-Daughter Book Club Series by: Heather Vogel Fredrick. (Trust me, it's not as boring as it sounds!!)

The Friendship list series by Lisa Greenwald

message 23: by Anna (new)

Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments Yay, hi Raz or Clarissa, it's Hayley! Which do you want to go by?

message 24: by Raz (new)

Raz 2 (clarissaclarissa) | 33 comments Clarissa. Or Raz. I don't really care. Which ever you prefer!

message 25: by Anna (new)

Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments Have y'all ever heard of Hoopla? It's like your library on an app, sort of. I have found a lot of books on there. They also have audiobooks, movies, and music/ soundtrack albums. Just a recommendation, it's helped me in the past :) Oh yeah, and it's free with your library card I think, which is the best part.

message 26: by Raz (new)

Raz 2 (clarissaclarissa) | 33 comments YES!! I've had it for like 2 years!! It's amazing!! It has Hamilton!!! And Little Shop of Horrors!! And FTRS!!! and AHHH!

message 27: by Raz (new)

Raz 2 (clarissaclarissa) | 33 comments I use it all the time :)

message 28: by Raz (new)

Raz 2 (clarissaclarissa) | 33 comments Except some countys don't support it.... :(. I feel bad for the people who can't use it...

message 29: by Anna (new)

Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments Yes!!! That is what I've been using it for! Haha, I told you I haven't seen Hamilton, but I've listened to it, on YouTube and Hoopla! Hoopla is amazing. And it had the FTRS books as soon as they're released, it's great. I've never seen LSH, it's good?

message 30: by Raz (new)

Raz 2 (clarissaclarissa) | 33 comments I've never seen Little Shop of Horrors either...

I've been listening to the album from the off-broadway with my mom. THE ALBUM IS AMAZING! We've been listening to it because Johnothan Groff plays Seymour (and my mom is obsessed with Johnothan Groff...).

STORY TIME!!

I was at a music store with my dad, and while we were waiting, we looked at the clearance books that were all like a dollar. I opened up a random one (LSH piano book w/ lyrics) to a random page and started reading out loud. It was at the page with the "Dentist" song. And I was laughing at the same time as thinking "WHAT THE HECK?!". Here are the lyrics:

When I was younger, just a bad little kid
My mama noticed funny things I did
Like shooting puppies with a B.B. gun
I'd poison guppies and when I was done
I'd find a pussycat and bash in its head
That's when my mama said

What did she say?

She said, "My boy, I think someday
You'll find a way to make your natural tendencies pay

You'll be a dentist
You have a talent for causing things pain
Son, be a dentist
People will pay you to be inhumane
Your temperament's wrong for the priesthood
And teaching would suit you still less
Son, be a dentist
You'll be a success

Here he is, folks the leader of the plaque!
Watch him suck up that gas!
Oh, my god!
He's a dentist and he'll never ever be any good
Who wants their teeth done by the Marquis de Sade?
Oh that hurts!
I'm not numb!

Oh, shut up. Open wide. here I come!
I am your dentist

Goodness gracious!

And I enjoy the career that I picked
I am your dentist

Fitting braces

And I get off on the pain I inflict
When I start extracting those molars
You girls will be screaming like holy rollers

Dentist!

And though it may cause my patients distress
Somewhere in heaven above me, I know that my mama's proud of me
'Cause I'm a dentist- and a success
Say ah! Now spit.

Do you see why I was confused?? At first my dad was like "What!?!?" with me, but when I finished the first page he said "Oh! Little shop of Horrors!"

Anyways.

I don't know the EXACT storyline because I made my mom stop ruining everything for me.

Apparently Seymour feeds his plant his blood...

It's not as bad as it sounds!

Lih.

Oh. Wow. That was long.

(So SORRY I didn't respond sooner! I was in the middle of typing this and my dad tole me to take my shower...)

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments It's sad, but since I don't really go to public libraries, I can't use any library apps, since they require library cards, which I don't have:((((((((.

message 32: by Raz (new)

Raz 2 (clarissaclarissa) | 33 comments Aww. Sorry. :(.

Is there anything I can help you with?

message 33: by Minerva (new)

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments Nah, I have my own ways of reading books

message 34: by Raz (new)

Raz 2 (clarissaclarissa) | 33 comments Haha. Okay.

message 35: by Raz (new)

Raz 2 (clarissaclarissa) | 33 comments You must if you've read so many. lih

message 36: by Minerva (new)

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments I mean I can't afford all those books can I? lol

message 37: by Raz (new)

Raz 2 (clarissaclarissa) | 33 comments Hah!

Raz 2 (clarissaclarissa) | 33 comments Do you read the School for Good and Evil (SGE)? It is a movie in the making!!

I actually tried SGE once, and for some reason i can't recall i dnf-ed it quite a while ago. Hmm, movie? I think i'll read it after all.

message 42: by Raz (new)

Raz 2 (clarissaclarissa) | 33 comments haha. It's REALLY GOOD! IM OBSESSED!!!!

message 43: by Raz (new)

Raz 2 (clarissaclarissa) | 33 comments My brothers and I don't get along very well...

Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments Seriously??? Y'all play piano too? So do I! Wow!

message 46: by Anna (new)

Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments Do y'all ever do Suzuki pieces? I can play the Black Pearl and most of He's a Pirate from the Pirates of the Caribbean. And also the first part of Fur Elise. I'm learning this new song called Message in a Bottle, it's really pretty.

Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments That's so cool that y'all play too!

message 48: by Gilly 2 (new)

Gilly 2 (gilly2) | 8 comments I play piano sometimes but I’m not very good... I’m trying to learn Married Life from Up! I have a book that teaches me some Disney songs! My favorites to play are Be Our Guest and A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes. Currently, I’m trying to learn two songs: Beginning of Everything and As Long as I’ve Got You 😉

message 49: by yaybooks (new)

yaybooks | 64 comments Oh wow, I finally found music people. I'm more of a classical person, so I play fur elise and sad heartwarming songs, but I'm trying to learn the songs from the greatest showman, they're really pretty

message 50: by Minerva (new)

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments I know, I really liked the song from the greatest showman, and I attempted to sing it, but I sounded terrible. and I used to do the piano, but since I got busy with intermediate stuff, I stopped. I still play the cello for school though.
