I thought I was reading more but not as much as it seemed. I checked the numbers and so far I've read 15 more than this time last year. But twice as many audio books last year 22 vs 45. So I guess I have physically read a lot more this year. Our library was only closed for a month or two then opened for curbside pickup. Now it is open to go inside. Everyone wears masks and there are not many people inside. Large building so easy to keep a distance.I'm more than ready to get back to "normal". I like reading post-apocalyptic books but I don't want to live in one. Besides people my age never live past the first chapter!
Over the years I've made quilts, blankets, hats, scarves, etc. for my grandchildren. Never thought I would be making masks for them to wear to school!
"I Love to Read" month - Covid version! Here is one of the things my local library is doing. It is "Blind Date With a Book". You call or email the library with your choice of genres and they will pick out up to 5 books for you. They do curbside pickup so when your books are ready you arrange a time, drive over and they drop the books in your trunk. Mine were all wrapped in pink paper with a red bow. They were great choices too. Most are very recent books. The staff decided this was a good way to introduce the patrons to their new inventory. I chose 2 Mystery, 1 romance, 1 science fiction and 1 nonfiction so I got a nice variety. I love this idea and am very much enjoying their selections! Hope others are finding ways to keep reading!
That's so neat! I love the library. Mine does curbside pickups too but I haven't been in a while because I've been doing e-books (from the library) and reading books from my own shelves (finally!)
This group always keeps me reading :)
This group always keeps me reading :)
I love it, Connie! Back when I worked at the library (which was also back when we were allowed, you know, inside), we did something similar, wrapping books in plain brown paper and simply labeling them "mystery" or whatever, and daring people to check them out :) I like the way your library is doing it!
