Looking for Alaska by John Green is without question one of the best books John Green has written besides the famed novel "The Fault in our Stars." Looking for Alaska follows the life of high schooler Miles Halter, and his quest to venture outside his safe, boring house in search of a more exciting and fulfilling life. Without giving anything away, the book is centered around a premise that can be very relatable for teenagers, and is a book that can easily be read in just a couple of days, or even in just one sitting. Looking for Alaska is a very good choice for the casual reader who just wants some entertaining pages to read, and desires a book that can be read in a timely fashion.
Another reason I enjoyed this book so much was the pure joy of analyzing the different characters. John Green does a fantastic job of building the different personalities of the characters in this book, so much so that you begin to become emotionally involved with each and every one of them. Each character feels so lively and real throughout the pages, that it just makes reading the book so much more of a joy.
To complete one of his finest pieces of work yet, John Green leaves his readers urging for more after the conclusion of the book. The story ends with a brilliant twist and does not fail to keep it's intense and intimate tone throughout the latter part of the story. Not only did I enjoy this book because of it's moral complexities and intricate characters, but the ending will definitely lead readers to ponder the true meaning of the pages, casual, yet thought provoking in the deepest way possible. Furthermore, John Green's "Looking for Alaska" is definitely worth reading, and will be sure to fill you with strong emotions from beginning to end.
