Cheryl (cherylllr) Just a short while to read the book club edition of these, but they're probably on overdrive/libby downloadable, and of course from stores.

Ralph McEwen | 22 comments I have downloaded the audio book.

Ralph McEwen | 22 comments I finished listening to the book. I found it good tale. You have to pay some attention as the story drifts between recalling memories and at the moment observations. I get the impression that there seems to be a very strong training / upbringing to make sure that they never let anyone get to close or see their feelings. I wonder if the formal stiff language really is the manner in which the British upper crust and household staff spoke to each other. It seems a little cold and aloof.

Cheryl (cherylllr) It's certainly a famous & popular book. Made into a movie and all. I wish I were sufficiently interested to read it myself, but I'm not, sorry.
