Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments Here you can talk about (or rant about if you’re like me, lol) books you didn’t like! Kinda like good book suggestions but the exact opposite.

Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments Ok have any of y'all ever read Bartleby the Scrivener? THAT is probably my least favorite book I have ever read. I can talk all about that book and how strange and weird it is (which I did for a couple days) But I will spare y'all, unless you actually want to listen to my Bartleby complaining and what not.

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments Nah, but I don't think I have a 'hate' book. I have a habit of searching up reviews, and reading excerpts before I actually read the book. Meaning, yeah, I'm picky with books.

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments Actually, I DO have a book that I don't like. Bad Kitty. I mean, I don't even treat it as a book. I read it in 4th grade, and for some reason, I LIKED it at the time, but now, it's sitting on the worst place in my bookshelf with 2 years worth of dust.

Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments Oh wow, I don’t think I’ve ever read that book. And I don’t really hate any books these are just books I didn’t really like very much or didn’t understand. I didn’t have a choice, I had to read this one for school. And basically Bartelby the Scrivener is about this guy he’s kinda like a copyist for a law firm. But whenever anyone asked him to do anything, he would say, “I would prefer not to.” It was just annoying to me. Eventually he would just stand staring at the wall doing nothing and always “preferring” not to help. I just don’t understand! How rude of him. Anyway that is basically the entire book summed up, I just find it boring and confusing. That’s just my opinion though.

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments oh. Bad Kitty is a 'book' that basicacally just talks about a spoiled cat. And the book itself, is just low quality writing. It's terrible.

Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments Minerva, I know you like war books, have you ever read Across Five Aprils?

message 10: by Gilly 2 (new)

Gilly 2 (gilly2) | 8 comments Swindle, Boy in the Striped Pajamas, The Outsiders, Outcasts Unite, Tell Tale Heart (if that’s even a book), Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, etc. Y’all might like these books, they’re not BAD books, I just didn’t like them. They’re not for me. I’m in to fairy tales and stuff like that.

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments I started Boy in Striped Pajamas, but I got bored and kind of left it.

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments Like, a month ago

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments And Hayley, no, I haven't. But I read your review, and I kind of get the idea.

message 14: by Anna (new)

Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments Yeah, I didn’t love that book either. Don’t get me wrong, I learned some new things and I have a better appreciation for the war but it was just hard to read. The old southern English was confusing and it was just really long and sort of boring, in my opinion. Then I had to write a 5 paragraph essay about the major themes in the book for school. That was a long month, lol.

Minerva (mm0808) | 108 comments Let me guess, literary annalysis essay? Reading a boring book is bad enough, but they make you write an essay? Oof. Must have been a really long month.

Anna (sweetanna) | 58 comments I just read this book for school, it’s called The Death of Ivan Illych written by Leo Tolstoy. And unless you like listening to a man complain about how much pain he is in, how he just wants to die, and how everyone around him, especially his wife, despised him for 2 hours straight (not even kidding) I would not recommend. So yeah I didn’t love this book, have any of y’all read it?
