I just finished this book (re-read) and I laughed so hard when Chaol finds out who Caleana is and then realizes he just sent her to a territory where she could find her greatest allies. I can just imagine Chaol face be like :o 'this has backfired'
Ok so can we talk about that info dump at the end? Like how does SJM expect me to be OK with her giving me so many plot twists in a matter of 50 pages??
And also, that chapter between Elena and Nehemiah was about them deciding between Dorian and Aelin, right? I mean celeana, but then again I've always sort of associated Aelin with magic and celeana with assassin.
I mean at first im just like, oh my god what is happening? And then the last lines just be like "bam! How do you like that huh?" Honestly i still think im going to be shocked XD
Aahana wrote: "And also, that chapter between Elena and Nehemiah was about them deciding between Dorian and Aelin, right? I mean celeana, but then again I've always sort of associated Aelin with magic and celeana..."Yeah for us they're just two different people but we still love them :)
You know, I mistakenly read the last line first, it was "Chaol sunk to his knees" and I thought that something like you know what used to happen in those barbie movies? How the "ugly" girl, she would touch a crown and she would suddenly become this gorgeous princess? Well, I thought something like that happened and that's why Chaol was bowing to her 😂
Oh I love her. She did what she needed to do. As we see in KOA (when Elena is showing how she saved celaena and all that) we see how Nehemiah came to terms with her fate. And she was a strong person and without her, death or not, Celaena wouldn’t have found a lighter like her. A friend like Nehemiah. She found someone who beloved in a better world, and she, through Nehemiah, discovered a better world too.
People usually get so weirded out when I say something like that, but that's just what SJM does to us, doesn't she with her books? She makes us feel things <3
Am I the only one who had mixed feelings about Chaol and Celaena being together? I wasn't really liking it for some reason.
I didn't like it but only as (at that point) I really like Celaena and Dorian...so much! Chaol and Celaena felt odd as she met the two boys at the same time and went towards Dorian first so it felt like Chaol should be second best yet there is all the passion
I think that's what I was feeling too Lauren, I was really hoping Dorian and Celaena (during that book) would make up because I just love him.And good luck reading Ally!!!
Emily wrote: "Am I the only one who had mixed feelings about Chaol and Celaena being together? I wasn't really liking it for some reason."Same! Before they got together, I really loved their attraction phase to each other but when they got together, I wasn't really a big fan.
I loved the angst before. Like that scene where she brushes his forehead and he pretends to be asleep? Just, I was screaming!!
I did ship them. Like, Sam to whatever end, but since at that point I didn't know that Rowan existed, I was happy that Chaol was making her happy <3
Hi I’m Shade and new to this group, and super late to tog. I’m on part two, the queens arrow and I cannot believe Nehemia is dead 😢😩
At the end Nehemiah tells her she knew she had to do it. Then there was that weird chapter with Elena and the princess. I hope celaena doesn’t hold that against Elena if she ever finds out about that. I just started Heir of Fire today. I’m excited about Rowan. I think he seems interesting and like he will be my favorite character!
Ahhh that chapter with Elena and Nehemiah will make sense further down the line 😉
And yes rowannnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!
And yes rowannnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!
I’m re-reading Crown of Midnight now! And I had a question… was anything ever solved about the slaves in Endovier and Calaculla? I can’t remember exactly if anything was done about it in one of the later books. I hope so because it was a major issue in the first two! I am bracing myself for what’s to come in this book 😭
Shade wrote: "I’m so excited! I know he plays a big part in the series and I can’t wait to see why!!"
it's bc he's one of the greatest male characters ever - you'll see why soon 😭

@Holly well *spoilers* so I’m pretty sure at some point , all the slaves at endovier are slaughtered and at callaculla so…. not much of a resolution :( but I am sure Aelin would have freed any durin her reign as queen !
I’m so excited. I’m at work and reading when I can. He just punched her in the face lol, so I’m sure it’s about to pick up haha.
Okay I’m about 100 pages into Heir of Fire and I am ready to quit reading it. Someone pleaseeee tell me she stops being such a coward and a brat and finally starts legit taking this all serious? I’m like why make that promise to Nehemiah if you’re basically not going to do anything to make it come tru. Lol sorry if that is harsh haha
Oh she does! Pls don’t DNF! The books is about her healing and she is going though depression almost, or she is, so it’s not that she isn’t following through on her promise, it’s that in her current mindset she can’t. And she’s definitely not being a coward 😭 someone says that to her later on and it almost driver her to her breaking point even more and it’s very sad 😭
So yeah keep going :))
So yeah keep going :))
Keep going. My (unpopular) opinion is that Heir of Fire was one of the worst books but the ending is spectacular and the rest of the series is on a whole other level. Push through with it just to get there
Heir of Fire can be difficult to get through in the beginning, Aelin’s a complicated ball of guilt and self-condemnation and her relationship with Rowan is contentious, to say the least. BUT, the later part of the book is absolutely amazing and you don’t want to miss the transformation and development that takes place with their characters :)
Okay I’m getting some vibes from Aedion that be thinks him and celaena are going to like be together 🥴
I absolutely agree, this is the book where everything changes for her, she becomes an adult, she starts to really face her future and her past. And if it's not enough...keep on reading just because the next book is Queen of Shadows, in my opinion the BEST book of the series
Definitely keep pushing through! It will be worth it. I had a hard time reading the first half of Heir of Fire as well because of how mean Rowan was to her and it was very hard to see her so depressed and in such a bad state. It definitely didn’t have the same feeling as the first two books but then it picks back up and you’re loving it again. Don’t give up yet!
