This is a fast book. At the start I was a bit overwhelmed by all the characters and backstories. But, this is after all book 6 in the series, so getting up to speed is a thing.

The last chapter of the book ended up feeling completely different from the rest of the book. Not just in the fact that it was like an epilogue, but, it almost felt like a different type of novel. The book itself is essentially a thriller driven by character conflicts (why there is so much catching up to do at the start) where an adventure unfolds, mostly with a cast of already known characters.

The last chapter of the book is less of a thriller, and more of a puppet master type spy novel. To turn it into a sports analogy, basically the whole book is an analysis of the game, but at the end of the book we get a glipse into the GM's offices and we see how the season is really developping. It also allowed the book to be more political which was also more interesting.

As much as I liked the book and the action portion, I like the types of books that are similar to the second portion of the book the most. Which are basically the parts of the book where Jackson Lamb is being a spy.
There are a few things you can count on. Jackson Lamb will be sitting down and a cigarette will magically appear, and bodily functions.
