Imtryan153 | 163 comments A place to talk about BLM, ALM, LGBTQ+, and any other acronyms you can think of.

ACAB

ACAB

ACAB

message 3: by Imtryan153 (new)

Imtryan153 | 163 comments While I do agree that a lot of cops are crooked and unjust and unworthy to hold the position, I don't think ACAB

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, I for one am not a fan of cancel culture. It says, "We disagree with you, so you don't exist."

That is truly terrible.

message 5: by Imtryan153 (new)

Imtryan153 | 163 comments I agree. People should be aware of other's thoughts and feelings, no matter how much you may conflict with them.

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

Exactly. While we should express our disagreement, we should listen to the others, and see if we can come to a peaceable conclusion.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Ozzy my child you shoukd reconsider that-

message 8: by Imtryan153 (new)

Imtryan153 | 163 comments Sometimes I feel that no matter how open-minded you can be, there will still be a part of you that clashes with others.

message 9: by Imtryan153 (new)

Imtryan153 | 163 comments Agreed. A more appropriate saying would be S.C.A.B.

message 10: by [deleted user] (last edited Sep 15, 2020 11:34AM) (new)

Ew. Sounds painful.

message 11: by Imtryan153 (new)

Imtryan153 | 163 comments lol yeah, but it still works

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

I have so many cop family members and none of them take their beliefs in hand when doing their job. Not all cops are bad in my opinion.

Taking into the fact that Eric Garner died, those cops were wrong. He couldn't breathe and they needed to lay off of him.
But he wasn't completely innocent either, so in some sick way he needed to know to stop 🤷‍♀️

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes. Saying that all cops are bad is equivalent to saying, 'All Librarians wear glasses.' Except, of course, that there's nothing wrong with glasses.

message 14: by Imtryan153 (new)

Imtryan153 | 163 comments That's an interesting standpoint. Not many people look at what people have done in order for the cops to be there in the first place, instead focusing on the action.

message 15: by Imtryan153 (new)

Imtryan153 | 163 comments However, sometimes the cops don't look at what people have done, and instead act based on stereotypes.

message 16: by Imtryan153 (new)

Imtryan153 | 163 comments I love the conversation, keep it up!

message 17: by amia (new)

amia 🇵🇸🌟💤 (taylor's ver (makevocaloidgreatagain) dunno if there’s an acronym for it but WOMEN ARE HUMANS

message 18: by Imtryan153 (new)

Imtryan153 | 163 comments Explain a bit more, princess

message 19: by Imtryan153 (new)

Imtryan153 | 163 comments I agree, it's just good to know the reason.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

I have noticed that all women are treated with disrespect in some way shape or form. I believe that men normally get better jobs as opposed to women. But women do not need to walk around with vagina's on their heads (yes this did happen look it up)

message 21: by amia (new)

amia 🇵🇸🌟💤 (taylor's ver (makevocaloidgreatagain) yeah women being sexualized is straight up stupid. if a guy walks around topless it’s fine but if a woman wears spaghetti straps they gonna be beat up. it’s like what miley cyrus said “people call me boring, but if i wear something else then they call me a slut” (it’s not exactly like that but it’s just what i remember)

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

the saying acab isn’t about the cops themselves. it is about the racist and corrupt system.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

and I quote
"A.C.A.B is an acronym meaning "All Cops Are Bastards". It is used as a slogan and written catchphrase in graffiti, tattoos and other imagery. It is sometimes numerically rendered as "1312", after the alphabetical order of the letters."
that's what you mean? ^^

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

yes.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

in the end the origin is about the cops, no?

message 26: by Imtryan153 (last edited Sep 16, 2020 07:10AM) (new)

Imtryan153 | 163 comments That seems to be the case. It looks like people look at the cops, and while that is sometimes true, the bigger picture is the system as a whole. One of my white friends said a racist joke, and I was like "Dang. Is this okay now?"

Rosethorn (Taylor's Version) (rosethornlily) I don't really follow what you're saying cause I don't exactly know this stuff XD

message 28: by Imtryan153 (new)

Imtryan153 | 163 comments Well, it's always good to read up. Here's a list of books to read.
Just Mercy, by Bryan Stevenson
The 57 Bus, by Dashka Slater
The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness, by Michelle Alexander
Stamped, by Ibram X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds

message 29: by Imtryan153 (new)

Imtryan153 | 163 comments If you're still confused, or just don't want to read, just search everything we say up, because that's what I do sometimes.

message 30: by Imtryan153 (last edited Sep 16, 2020 10:55AM) (new)

Imtryan153 | 163 comments Songs can be easier to listen to, so here's one.
