Sometimes l'll struggle through a book in the hope it'll get better, today at page 217 I gave up reading "the mailman of the Birdsville track" life is too short to read crappy books!!

I'm with you - books should be written in a way that captures your interest in the first chapter! First paragraph!

It is up to the writer to capture your attention. If they fail to do that, their book doesn't deserve persevering with.

I agree that life's too short to read crsppy books. You gave it a good go:)

One book I read recently that I hated but kept reading because I was "hoping" it would improve was "The Bride stripped bare" my bestie read it and told me not to bother and at the end of the book I agreed but travelling with limited number of Aussie Author books I stuck it out. Hated it.
