I don't know if anyone else noticed this but Marie Lu's first books seem to lack details. Don't get me wrong I love them, but in Legend she didn't do a lot of background story and world building, instead she just went right for the action. I felt that in Prodigy was when we finally got more insight into the world and what the history was and so forth. I think this series will be similar, where she will build upon the world in the second book.I really liked the supernatural element of their "powers" in this series which gave it a Grisha feel to it. We don't see a lot of that in Y.A. which made it fun for me.
Just my thoughts.... I really liked this book and can't wait for the next!!!!!
I agree with you Kristin. I feel like the world building was kind of lackluster in The Young Elites. Lu kind of just gave us minimal details there. The setting was gorgeous though. I also really enjoyed the characters, especially Adelina.I agree that it seems like we're going to see more world building in The Rose Society.
I really enjoyed the book overall but I wouldn't call it one of my favorites.
