ok, so i checked and this book has 25 chapters. how about we read 5 chapters every day than discuss?

i finished the first 5 chapters

(view spoiler)[ i don't really have much to say, but i am intrigued by the story. as in his dark materials, it takes a while for the plot to get started. i've always had a problem with the pace in philip pullman's books, there are time when it is quick and there are times when it is way too slow. i really like seeing baby lyra and i like malcom as a character. i liked the mystery that we have, surrounding lyra and how a lot of people are looking for her. 5 chapters a day is great! :)
Yeah, I also have had a rough history with the pacing of Pullman's books (at one point at got through The Subtle Knife by the skin of my teeth). I think it will be an interesting story, and I like the mystery that is beginning to happen.

which book was your favourite in the his dark materials series? mine i think it was the subtle knife.

i got to chapter 9 and god the plot is so boring and the pacing is so slow i really hope it picks up.
