I'm currently somewhere in chapter 9 and I had a shock which is the reason I decided to write in the thread now.
I really like the banter between Wax and Wayne :D I'm even thinking that I like them more than the originals.. But that could possibly be because here we have less characters to follow. I like the butler, he reminds me of someone from the original books, but I'm not sure who, maybe the kandra. Or maybe it reminds me of someone in the audio form since the same narrator is reading it. I like Marasi.

I read up to chapter 12.
It's really interesting. Now I'm wondering why I hadn't been able to get into it the last time I tried reading it? Maybe I had high expectations since I enjoyed the original Mistborn books, and I was dreading the disappointment. Now in hindsight I'm wondering why because I don't think there was a Sanderson book that disappointed me.

I read the mistborn trilogy a couple of years ago and I too dropped this book after The Hero of Ages at that point for the same reason. And it took this long to pick it up :)
The first one-third of Elantris felt that way to me. No matter how disappointing it feels in the early parts, Sanderson will make it up with the climax and ending. That's my belief.
The chapters are not that long, at least those that I payed attention to. But as you read more you get into the story and the pages fly by. I started yesterday and read 13%, and today I got to 60%.
I needed some motivation on my own to start it too 😂 I said I'll have to get to 30% today, before I can read anything else.. so I had to 😂 but it got interesting before those 30% which is the reason I got that far.

I had to start this book 3 times in the past before this time lmao but I finally made it. This book feels so much lighter than the original trilogy which is why I think we're enjoying these characters a bit more, Mina XD
Wow, you started it more times then I, but even though I started it last time I had a hard time actually sticking to it and reading it. And yes, it's so lighter than the original I LOVE that, that's probably the reason I flew through it yesterday... and I'm planning on finishing it today 😅
I finished it.
The plot is meh, it exists but I'm not impressed with it. BUT the characters are GOLD. I just love the Wax and Wayne's banter.

I am enjoying Wax and Wayne's banter. I also like Marasi and her conversations with Wax. I can see myself finishing atleast half the book by the end of today.
Chapter 7 is still the beginning for things.. you'll see. And I didn't finish it in two+ days because it wasn't interesting 😂 when it hooks you it's a bit hard to put it down.

OK, this happened so suddenly that it didn't even give me time to prepare for it's arrival. That's really shocking and unexpected.

I like being shocked though. Doesn't happen so frequently. It's 1 am but I can't stop reading this book.

I have no idea where I am in the book (I have just a bit more than 2 hours left) so I'm not gonna say this outright: but just the part where Wayne told Marasi about his past? made me love wayne to the moon and back. he is such a stupid sweetheart. The dynamic and the chemistry between these three is so effing good :')

I cant feel anything but sorry for Wayne while he was telling the story. He was too sweet :)

Are we reading Shadows of Self in November?
I haven't read that series 😅 I started the first book and something didn't sit right with me and I dropped it 🙈 But I will pick it up.. sometime in the future.

The only thing the book tests is your patience. Since each book comes once in 3 years, it is tough to wait and remember what happened in last book. I only remember bits and pieces from Oathbringer. You probably can probably pick it up when the next book comes (in 2023). The series is a 5 + 5 kind, like how mistborn is 3 + 3 (or 4). The next book would complete the current story arc.
I wasn't getting how things were working and that annoyed me, so I think that was the reason I just gave up after 50-ish pages.. But I will give it a second chance.

I'm okay with mid November, so when you have time tell us to make a more detailed plan. And I'll just ask for a thread in November nominations so that when we do have a schedule we already have a thread.

Nov 17-23?
I kind of have an open schedule post mid november, so anything works.

That works for me. I'll probably start it later than the 17th because I have some other buddy reads at that time, but I'm counting it's still a fast read :D so it's no problem. I'll make the schedule for 3 chapters a day starting on the 17th
Edit: noup, it'll be 4 chapters a day
