Hi! I'm reading this book at the moment and... I'm loving Genya so much I hope nothing bad happens to her.

YESSSS IT'S RANT TIME

So... I really hated this book. It was full of cliches and whiny characters and love geometry and everything else I hate. Alina was your typical "I'm not pretty but everyone loves me" protagonist full of sass. The plot? Basically, she sat around at some school where a bunch of mean girls gossiped and waited for things to happen.

I forgot to mention how much I despise Mal Oretsev.

I can see why people would like it, though, and reading it was helpful when I started the Six of Crows duology, which is much better.

I'm reading the series to understand better the six of crows duology which I'm so anxious to read, and yeah, I can tell that Alina... well it's just not my type of character but I think the book is so easy to read that it's entertaining at that point, maybe I'll change my mind while finishing it, who knows...

That she has but what disturbs me the most is that corona is a HUMAN. And that cover of course 🤣🤣🤣
And the storyline! Actually, all of that "book" is disturbing as hell...

I just finished reading Shadow and Bone, and I really liked it! I'm starting on Siege and Storm rn.

I read Shadow and Bone just last month, and it wasn't that bad. I mean, it didn't WOW me, but there are a few entertaining bits. And I think I might have given up Seige and Storm if not for -ahem- Sturmhond. But Six of Crows is simply awesome, so there's that.

I actually read this also in this month, before I joined this group 😂
This was okay read, I enjoyed reading. But I didn't love Alina, and there was moments I started to really wait something to happen. Genya was interesting character and I liked how the characters weren't only black or white. The ball evening was magical, I loved the atmosphere! The ending was better than beginning of the book and I would love to see what's going to happen to Genya and even Baghra. And I loved that creepy priest and I have the feeling he is going to have a bigger role in the next one. I wouldn't have mind a bit more scary things because there could have been.

I thought the same as you Johanna! for me the second book was a little bit boring but the last one is absolutely the best in the series, you might like that one. At least we have a new character in the second book that it's worth it: Nikolai.
