No 5 star reads but I did really enjoy Slouch Witch (The Lazy Girl's Guide to Magic, #1) by Helen Harper - its a delightful read.

5. Overall summary of your reading month? I read 16 books. A little less than last month but I've been working on preparing for the upcoming semester so that explains it.

Robin (robinmy) | 3495 comments 1. Did you complete and/or get up to date in any series this month?
I finished three series: The Janes (Alice Vega, #2) by Louisa Luna Seconds to Live (Scarlet Falls #3) by Melinda Leigh Second Time Around (Soul Change, #3) by Tina Wainscott

2. Did you start any new series? If so, what were they? Will you continue?
I started five series this month. I'm planning on continuing three of them. I loved First Blood (DI Kim Stone, #0.5) by Angela Marsons , The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line (Veronica Mars, #1) by Rob Thomas & Vanished (Callahan & McLane, #1) by Kendra Elliot . Was not a big fan of Wait for Me (The Montgomery Brothers, #1) by Samantha Chase & Cold Terror (Cold Harbor #1) by Susan Sleeman .

3. Did you move forward in any series? How many?
Along with the series I completed above, I moved forward in one other series:
Lucy Kincaid by Allison Brennan

4. Any standout or 5 star books read? Why did you love it/them?
I read two 5-Star Books: The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line (Veronica Mars, #1) by Rob Thomas First Blood (DI Kim Stone, #0.5) by Angela Marsons

5. Overall summary of your reading month?
I finished 10 books in September. I can't believe I started five series in one month. I want to try to finish more series than I start. ;)

Michelle | 3272 comments 1. Did you complete and/or get up to date in any series this month?
Completed I started and completed 1 trilogy
up-to-date 4
Potrait of death - Isabel Wroth *
True immortality - S. Young*
The slave - S. J. Crusan*
The fallen men - Giana Darling

2. Did you start any new series? If so, what were they? Will you continue?
I started 3 new series. (I marked them with a * above) Got up-to-date in all of them and will definitely be continuing then.

3. Did you move forward in any series? How many?
Yes besides all the ones I got up-to-date I moved forward with In death.
A few other as well (3 others) but I'm not sure if I will be continuing them. Two I think will be a sort of filler. That moment where you've just finished a great series/book and can't stop thinking about it. You need a book that just help come down from the high. Or you just need a book while deciding what you feel like reading [Haven, Texas - Laylah Roberts & Zandian Masters - Renee Rose ]
The other I'm undecided about. I was so disappointed with this one it might have turned me off completing or getting up to date with it. [Master's unleashed - Sparrow Becker]

4. Any standout or 5 star books read? Why did you love it/them?
I didn't have 5*. But I did have a few 4.5*
Portrait of Death Unforgotten by Isabel Wroth I loved the characters. I loved the storyline. I loved the style of writing. The lost of half a star point is that I don't think I'd pick this up again to read just because. I might to remind myself of something or something along those lines.
War of Hearts (True Immortality #1) by S. Young Kiss of Vengeance (True Immortality #2) by S. Young
Both of these are 4*. A new genre for this author and I think she pulled it off. Great characters and storyline. And I liked the writing style. And as the first book was a Scotsman looking for our heroine I loved it that much more. A few more to come and I've already had me a Scotsman & an Irishman although you'd not have known he was Irish. The next hero? I'll have to wait and see.
Sold (The Slave #1) by S.J. Crusan This serialization is Not for ever one. Dark romance and triggers everywhere. I read the 3 and novella and yet I've still to learn everyone's history. Its an ensemble read. Meaning it's not just the main characters that are important to the central story. But cliffhangers? I hate having to wait. I want my conclusion or HEA, whichever works better for the storyline, not drawn out over more than 3/ 4 books!

5. Overall summary of your reading month
29 Read books!! I actually don't know how I got to that number. A good month not only because of the number of books read but what I read was mostly good reads. A few new series. A few new authors, some good binge reads of new and old series and one or 2 disappointments and urghs.

1. Did you complete and/or get up to date in any series this month?
I completed one and got up to date in two:
Will Trent by Karin Slaughter
In Death by J. D. Robb
Scarlet Falls by Melinda Leigh

2. Did you start any new series? If so, what were they? Will you continue?
I started one new series, Callahan & McLane, which I plan to continue but putting it on pause until I finish it’s earlier connected series, Bone Secrets.

3. Did you move forward in any series? How many?
I moved forward in three series:
DI Kim Stone by Angela Marsons
Lucy Kincaid by Allison Brennan
The MacGregors by Nora Roberts

4. Any standout or 5 star books read? Why did you love it/them?
I had three 5-star books: Shadows in Death, The Switch & The Silent Wife. All three very different stories but kept me enthralled from start to finish. Special mention to First Blood, the prequel to the series I’d already started, which was outstanding.

5. Overall summary of your reading month?
I read 12 books, was hoping for a couple more but real life said no. However, for me the reading was again so fulfilling this month. I also had quite a few standalones that helped me complete my goal of having a healthy mix of those and series reading. I’m happy.
Shadows in Death (In Death, #51) by J.D. Robb The Switch by Beth O'Leary The Silent Wife (Will Trent, #10) by Karin Slaughter First Blood (DI Kim Stone, #0.5) by Angela Marsons

I hadn't planned on it which is that much more fulfilling Jonetta. And those new series where mostly mysteries. Never thought I'd read that many mysteries at one time. But then I suppose the romance or intrigue kept me reading the next and the next.

Had such a good September I'm struggling to start October. But with me I keep reading. I just make sure it not a favorite or a much awaited book. I have a few of those coming in October.

Before you give up on it, I want to let you know that it is an easy read and it is short. If you can't find anything else, give it a try. There are a lot of people that read the book and liked it.

I also gave 5 stars to Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills. This YA book surprised me in the best way. The characters and situations brought back memories from high school.

Into the Night (Troubleshooters, #5) by Suzanne Brockmann Mother's Little Helper (A Margie Peterson Mystery) by Karen MacInerney Agatha Raisin and the Potted Gardener (Agatha Raisin, #3) by M.C. Beaton

4. Any standout or 5 star books read? Why did you love it/them?
No but one 4.5 star. Into the Night by Suzanne Brockmann
I loved Mike Muldoon so much and if it hadn't been for Joan constantly bringing up his being too young for her I may have liked her more and given the book 5 stars. She rehashed the age difference over and over and over with either direct or indirect statements. Indirect like calling Mike, Junior. Looking forward to the next book.

5. Overall summary of your reading month?
Completed 1, got caught up on 1, started 3 new, moved forward in 3 series, and read 6 stand-alone books makes for 14 books read this month. The past few months I've been reading more than that but I had an out of town guest in for 10 days and I helped mom and dad put a dent in their attic clean up plan during that same time. No reading for me during that time period so overall I am definitely not mad at my reading for the month.

I will read all of RK Lilley eventually, I love her style. My favorite is Arranged. Have you read that one? The Takeover is book #2. The Stop Over is Book 1. They are about different brothers. Well done, Melissa!
It can be hard to stay on track with plans when there are so many new and shiny books calling to us :)

Your reading has been amazing this year, Christina. I remember when you were in a slump a little while ago. So glad you have come out the other side :)

Congrats on your month. 6 standalone is great! Helps keep your series numbers down. I think good standalone are hard to find.

Christina T I've had Hot and Badgered on pause for a while now. I just struggled so much, more than I did with the previous two, to get started. That family is scary crazy, in a good way.

It sounds like you had a good month's. Here's hoping this one continues on from there.

One common theme this month? You all seemed to enjoy your reading, a lot! What is it about September?

Anyway, just wanted to say how great it is to see so much book..."

I noticed that as well Jonetta. We all had a great month. For me I'll say it's the start of spring. Crazy weather with all the seasons in one day, I mean sunshine, that over cast, then a quick hale storm and before you know it the sun is shining again. All in one day. Makes one want to stay indoors and read. That and nothing new on TV. 😂

I haven't read Arranged. Have read anything of hers in a while. As I mentioned before you are getting me to start reading authors that I've taken a break from for some or other reason. I thank you kindly 🙇🏻‍♀️

Think I'll read Stopover first I'm looking for some laughs. And it sounded like a good one.

As for King? I read it in the middle of it all as it were. So I didn't even know Preppy was coming. Then he got his book. Thank goodness I didn't dive in immediately and. Foudn out it's two books⁉️ I waited. Because cliffhangers.
I really need to read N9ne: The Tale of Kevin Clearwater. Sometimes I forget about her because I'm always waiting for the next book before I start. ( why oh why does this author always torture us with ahveing to wait for the conclusion? Why not write it a in one go🤔)
