This was my first encounter with Daniel Abraham's and I liked it.
First in the series, The Dragon's Path is Epic Fantasy, with some darkness tossed in. Abraham is a dialogue heavy writer something I usually don't take to. However, the characters are likeable, with exception of one or two, who perhaps we are not suppose to like. The chapters are divided by point of view of the 4 main characters:
Marcus: The disgruntled and broken soldier who now is guard for hire Cithrin: The orphan girl, ward of banking house who is given a mission she has no idea how to complete Geder: A soldier and nobleman who would rather be reading books Dawson: Best friend of the King, a major player in the games of The Court.
The story that entangles these 4 people and a large cast of others, kept me engaged enough that I am curious as to where the author take us next. Book 2 has been added to the TBR shelf.
