Vickie (bookfan4ever) If you're participating in Dewey's Readathon, all throughout the day tell us how you're doing. What are you reading? How many pages have you read? Whatcha snackin' on? Share whatever you want... updates, milestones, frustrations, brain breaks, etc.

Have fun and happy reading!

Thanks, Vickie. I am doing the Sue-model, 12 hours saturday and 12 hours sunday - must go now, must make lists..

I have found a book that i will try to read and finish during the two days:

The Power by Naomi Alderman by Naomi Alderman

message 4: by Vickie (new)

Vickie (bookfan4ever) Ooh, that's an interesting one, Aya. A lot of people really liked it, but I have a good friend who couldn't even finish it, so I'll be curious what you think of it. 😊

I picked it up because of the challenge:
10 best books of the past decade

I have read most of them now and looking (hoping) forward to this one.

Vickie (bookfan4ever) That's awesome, and I hope you like it!

Excellent Aya :-).

I'm quite a slow reader and think I will go for something easy and not heavy. I'm just finishing Mexican Gothic so will be grateful for something lighter. I'm going to spend the weekend at my mum's place in Dorset now as having to take my son there for half term so I wont be able to shut myself away entirely. I'm still going to get as many hours in as possible though.

Vickie (bookfan4ever) How's everyone doing? I'm spending time today between these three...

The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty The Exorcist

Usher's Passing by Robert R. McCammon Usher's Passing

The Only Plane in the Sky An Oral History of 9/11 by Garrett M. Graff The Only Plane in the Sky: An Oral History of 9/11

Yeah, I know, very heavy reading. Didn't plan this well, lol.🤦🏼‍♀️😄

Sue | 41 comments Well done Vickie, they do all look a challenge. I’ve been the opposite with reading a light hearted cozy mystery but need something a bit more now. It’s a shame I haven’t been able to tuck myself away as solidly as I would have liked.

message 12: by Vickie (new)

Vickie (bookfan4ever) Yeah, I hear ya! My family life always gets in the way of reading all day, lol.🙄😄

message 13: by Sue (new)

Sue | 41 comments Yes, best laid plans aye! A nice desert island to transport myself to at times would be perfect.

I’m about to start The Reckoning, I have never read a John Grisham before and looking forward to being able to get immersed, I hope.

Have a good day Vickie with your books and everyone.

Read The Power by Naomi Alderman - or rather sped through the last half in big haste - it was definitely not for me.
I found the first 30 pages intriguing and the rest really badly written - so there!

I will continue The Reckoning, and like Sue this is also my first of his books, i have seen some of the movies, so i think he i quite "safe".

Thanks, Sue, it was a great day! For the most part, the men in my house left me alone.😉 I was able to read off and on for about 15 hours until I caved and went to bed.😊

I was curious if you would feel that way. That's what I kept hearing about it. Hopefully The Reckoning is better for you.😊
