Some options for this one include books like The Little Prince, which was originally written in French, or any manga current translated into English.

I heard that book is amazing.

Check out this blog http://ayearofreadingtheworld.com/. It was 2012 and she decided to read a book from each of the 195 countries recognized by the UN (plus Taiwan and Kurdistan for 197 total). She was limited, of course, to stuff translated into English.

She's got a list of her top 10 favorites of those in the FAQ. (she specifically chose commercially available books for that), plus the whole list is available too.

I'm eyeing An African in Greenland" from her Top 10 list.

I just finished The Double by José Saramago. I was very disappointed.
