Ayla (storiesandfolklore) Sadie lay on the sand for a minute, breathing heavily. After a while, she forced herself up and looked around the island. There were trees - so there had to be water.
She hurried over to the forest area, finding a small river. She cupped her hands and splashed her face, pouring it down her throat. Immediately she felt a little better, or at least her head didn't ache as much.
She found a small cluster of trees and decided to make camp, at least for the day, until she figured out how to get back to the academy.

Ayla (storiesandfolklore) Sadie lay down, trying to blow more air into the small yellow boat, which had deflated quite a bit since she had rowed it through the night. She looked up at the sky and saw it threatening to rain, knowing that it couldn't be good if the island flooded.
Dammit, what do I do now? I have to try to contact Beth and Hailey, but I don't have my phone. I guess I'll just practice knife throwing in the meantime?
She got up, against the will of her body, and took out her knives which had miraculously survived the journey, and began to throw them at a tree as she carved a target. Her aim was a little worse than usual, which wasn't saying much because her aim was always on point, but her arm felt like lead, and she could barely move her legs. "This sucks," She muttered, throwing knives in an angry flurry. "How am I supposed to get back to the academy now? I'm in the middle of the ocean and I don't even know the right direction." Then, she was hit with an idea.
"What if...no, that can't be possible," Sadie murmured, checking her pockets. "A compass. It won't really help, but it's something at least." She sat back down, examining the compass.

Ayla (storiesandfolklore) As the sky still threatened to pour, Sadie looked up and realized she had to do something. She had to leave, now, or else it would be too late. She picked up the compass and tucked her knives in various places on her body, pushing the small boat onto the beach. She took her small pouch and filled it with river water, knowing she would need it.
Sadie took a deep breath, looked up one last time, then jumped into the boat and pushed off.

Ayla (storiesandfolklore) After just several minutes of rowing with the metal pole, Sadie's arm started to ache. She cursed herself and realized she should've tied some tree leaves to the pole to make it easier to row.
As the evening wore on, the sky grew dark and grey, and she knew she had to move, fast. She stopped a few times and took small sips of water, knowing that there was only a limited amount.
She rowed like this for about two more hours, until she saw a glimmer of light. Could it be...? She rowed faster and harder, and saw a beach, then a large black building with mirrored windows so you couldn't see in but you could see out.
The academy. Sadie almost laughed, cried with relief, but she couldn't waste the effort. She was still about half a mile away, and the sea was growing rocky and unstable, threatening to toss her through the sea.
After thirty more minutes, she came to the beach and jumped out as fast as she could, despite the pain in her body. She rushed up the beach, faster than she would have thought she could move, in her state.
