Laughlin was an ass. Poor Lucy just can't get a break, but it seems that with each knock she gets, her inner strength gets stronger and she comes out a better person.

For a moment there I thought she wouldn’t bounce back. But she’s been through much worse and I liked how she dug deep. Lucy’s incredibly disciplined even when she lacks confidence.

I knew she'd work her way through her problems with Laughlin. I only hope we soon come to the end of her near panic attacks or worrying that everyone knows what happened to her after high school. It seems so repetitive to bring it up every book.

I agree, Robin. I'm getting tired of the repetition too. But, either I was skipping or it wasn't as bad in this book. Not sure which.

In the last book I was angry with Noah; this time around it is Laughlin and to a lesser degree Kate.

I have to agree with Robin and Anita, the out of control panic attacks are getting old. I know a lot of characters in other series rehash past events but in Lucy's case she doesn't seem to get any better at dealing with it.
We seem to all be on the same page with this question. I certainly didn't want to see Lucy fall flat on her face. I think she made some progress, but it was painful....

Lucy is a complex character. You really never know what direction she is going to go in. I knew that she would handle it in her own way, but I was worried for a bit that it would sideline her. I love how she handled it at the end.
