What did you think about Alyss’s death, do you think the story could be improved in any way, what would it be?

Look at Maddie’s behaviour. At the castle, she is hunting all the while. Then Cassandra really doesn’t understand (how could that be, she was once like that) and sends her to Will for training.
She shows up with a ton of dresses and a maid. ?!? If this Maddie was with Cassandra they would have a grand time, no trouble at all.
If the hunting Maddie was with Will, they would have been going on fine, no trouble happening at all.
What happened here, Flanagan trying to create conflict?

When Will runs out of arrows, wouldn’t the Stealer try to find his bow to snap and burn with Will? It is like having McDonalds and forgetting to eat the fries.
What do you think of the story going on happily, me expecting a sequel about 3 years in and a mission with Alyss is needed... to suddenly, 20 years later and Alyss is dead. I was shocked, like what just happened?!?
What do you think about it?
I still think it’s ok, tho... and supporting Flanagan’s other prequels.
