Melanie Bound and her younger brother Isaiah sit in the dirt of thier favorite wooded area, fighting about the upcoming reaping.
"I'm just giving you fair warning now," Isaiah sighs, plucking the petal off of a dead dandelion, "if your name is called, I'm volunteering."
Melanie rolls her eyes, her annoyance reaching an all time high.
"My name's not gonna be called!" she reasons, though the chances, of the words Melanie Bound, being called during the reaping are pretty high.
