I'm so so excited to read Heartless - I coincidentally ordered a copy the other day, so I'm really looking forward to getting to read it as part of the group :)

I never thought about reading Heartless but now I'm intrigued, I'll try to get it from my library :D

Good news, I got it. I will read as soon as I finish my other books... Ah, what a slump I'm in but I feel really accomplished from last month's BOTM!

I think I'm one of the only ones who has started it yet, but I love the writing style so much! I literally read the first few pages two or three times over because it was so good 😂

So I just finished it today - so so good! I didn't expect so many of the twists in it, and loved the world building.
Can't wait for the rest of you to finish!

I just started it today and was totally creeped out about it!! (You'd understand if you read my update) I don't know if I can finish it. It is not my style and it doesn't interest me at all. I don't mean to the bash the book however, I hope I'm not coming across that way! I'm sure plenty of people love it but I don't think it's for me.

I never thought I'd see someone who didn't like the whimsical type, but that's totally understandable! It's fine if you don't finish it, after all, you shouldn't force yourself to read :)

And just curious, do you like the fantasy genre?

I just finished it! I really liked it though the end ripped me apart.😭

(without spoilers haha) what did you think of the twist with mr Peters and the pumpkins?

It was unexpected. I never thought about it even though I was sure there was something strange about mr Peter’s wife and those pumpkins.

The pumpkin thing was really cool! I felt like it explained a lot.

Haha! I don't know if it was necessarily the whimsical part, more all of the animals talking. 😂 (Unless that's what you mean by whimsical... 🤔) Yeah, that was my thought.

It depends, I think sometimes I do but it depends on the fantasy. I don't like magic so I don't usually read fantasy, if it doesn't have magic though than I'm not against it.

I just think of it like Narnia 😂 the Cheshire Cat kind of like shift or puzzle?? 😂

Hailey (my 13 yo daughter in this group) and I are starting this together tomorrow. Or rather reading it when the other doesn't have it in their hands. Looking forward to a weekend of reading. See you on the other side.

So I did the audiobook of this and finished it in 3 days. The narrator was fantastic and she really made the story what it is. I loved this retelling, a mix between Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass, but on the Queen of Hearts POV and how she came to be the Queen. I enjoyed that it started and ended with Cath in her late teen years. The ending was devastating with Jest. But now I am also super craving some desserts.
